  1. The last time I shipped a windshield I went to a bodyshop to see if they had any boxes left from windshields. They had one they were going to install so they cut it carefully and gave me the box. It has foam and is double thick cardboard, plus it has all the factory labels on it for glass. It made it without damage, just a thought. The Brat is still buried in a snowbank so you have some time.
  2. I guess I'm one of the guys who was looking for parts in the past. My fault though, I told you no rush back in Oct...2011. Guess I'd better get working on that Brat again. I was looking for a windshield for a '78 Brat. Shipping would be to 58265. Not sure what the weather is like there now but we just got caught in another cold snap, its -10F, if its like that there wait for some warmer weather. Thanks.
  3. sorry it took so long to reply, just to clarify the cost of shipping only is 110 it would be an added 50 each for the fender, so it would be a grand total all together 210 for shipping and the fenders.you can text me if itll be easier 5037509842 my names steven

  4. Checking in every few days to see how things are coming along. You are providing some inspiration for me for when the weather turns warmer again and I can get to the Brat. Now all I can do is try to track down parts I need and get ready for spring.
  5. Cost of the fenders is very reasonable but the shipping is a bit of an ouch. CarParts Outlet out of CA wanted $30 per fender by UPS Ground, but they only have a passenger side. OK, sign me up. How would you like payment? Is PayPal OK? What is your PayPal address?

  6. so to ship to your zip code would be 110 and im charging 50 each for the fenders. pm me to let me know if you still want them thanks

  7. I thought that engine looked odd in there, but a Grnd National engine? That is going to be a blast. It was a good idea to do the 8.8 swap, I have one sitting in the shed, just haven't got around to putting it in anything yet. I have a few projects like that. I always try to keep the Subarus, the Merkurs and the Volvos alive.
  8. Nice work, I've brought a few Volvos back from the same point you are but it takes time. Keep up the great work. By the way is that a 2.8 PRV in the turbo Volvo?
  9. Those are both great links. I am a car brochure junkie from when I was a kid. I have a bunch of them from the 80s. I think the oddest one I have is from DeLorean. Not much Subaru stuff, they just didn't have much out at the car shows where I lived.
  10. Wow, it seems like everyone is looking for those early Brat front fenders.
  11. Don't worry about shipping outside the US. I have a place to ship them to within the US, 58265 zip code. The taxes and brokerage fees you are talking about makes it worth my time to drive 2 hours south to get across the border and do it myself. I am definitely interested in the parts. I'm not in a rush either, its a long term project but I definitely would want them. Thanks for the help.
  12. How clean are the fenders and what shape is the windshield in? Fenders shouldn't be too bad to ship, glass is going to be expensive but if its really nice it would be worth it.
  13. I'm looking for front fenders and a windshield for a '78 Brat. Do you remember seeing those in the trip to the storage unit? Thanks.
  14. Thanks for the help guys. My parts car is an AT, and it was in park. I removed the steering column trim and the plate from underneath the ignition switch. There was a small gold tab that appeared to move a little everytime I rotated the key so I jiggled the "lever" a few times and the key came out. Thanks again for all the help, I'm sure I will be asking more questions as I get into this a little more. Looks like I need to track down a copy of the Forester shop manual.
  15. I picked up a parts 2002 Forester and I have a bit of a problem. The key is in the ignition and it won't come out. I was told that I need to get 12V to the car to get the key to release. Here is the problem, the car was crashed in the left front and it appears the battery cables, fuse/relay panel and anything else electrical are sliced and or missing in that front corner. The haynes manual wiring diagram was useless. Is there a fuse in the interior that looks after this circuit? Can I feed it 12V directly to release the key and not mess up anything else?
