  1. If not too inconvienet I would look at the dealer parts catolog. It is not a good thing to lose ones nuts.
  2. SW Florida in Cape Coral. 2000 Forester S with 77,000 trouble free miles. Ed
  3. Don't have experience with your model but, on my 2000 Forester the manual is the way to go and see how. ed
  4. I've found that if you SLOWLY remove the stick and don't reinsert it for several minutes I get a good reading. If you pull the stick fast you pull oil into the guide tube. If you wait a couple of minutes any oil in the guide tube will drain back into the sump. ed
  5. Are you measuring the AT temperature at the same place with the same gage?
  6. My 2000 Forester AT requires the transmission be in P or N to start. Some modles I'm told force you to have the brake pedel pushed.Safety issue
  7. I have a Haynes Legacy manual for 1990-1998 and the 1999 vehicle is virtuially identical. I even use it for my 2000 Forester for the engine/transmission. You can also buy (piece meal) sections of the factory service manual at about 50 dollars a section. You can download the complete factory manual for 20 bucks. The download time is limited and if you have dialup it's tough but, another option. ed
  8. Subaru brake flushing sequence is::Front right, rear left, front left then rear right. Do a brake fluid FLUSH and not just a bleed. Flush each line untill new fluid is visable and NO air bubles are seen. ed
  9. At 72,000 miles my 2000 2.5L idles so smooth most of the time I look at the tachometer to make sure it's idling. Assumiming you have a good tuneup I wonder if the valve clearence correct. On 2.5L engines the check/adjust interval is 60,000 or 105,000 miles depending on DOHC or SOHC.
  10. My CEL comes on when I turn the ignition key to the first click. Same with batt and alt lights. You could have a bad bulb.
