You mean the "mickey mouse" seal? I had some problems too even though it was original subaru part... I put oil on the gasket to hold it in place and carefully put the pump back on. After 3th or 4th time i succeeded. Mine too was littlebit too big

Aaaand the lifter tick is back :D It went away after replacing all of the oil pump seals but yesterday it came back not as loud as it was before though... I noticed the engine was dripping oil quite a lot (maybe a teaspoonful in 10 minutes) so i went to pick up crancksaft seal and cam seals in this morning. I knew i should have replaced them aswell when i was doing the oilpump Lucky for me, its really fast and easy to get the timing belt out of the way.. Got to love the simplicity (is it even a word ) of subaru

Yes, that is the seal i was talking about. That was the reason of my lifter tick. how long do yuou think new seal will last and will any same size seal do and what are its dimensions? Not that subaru seals are expensive but I always have to wait couple of weeks to subaru send me one when I could just get new one from any parts store I'we seen only TWO subaru leones here in finland without lifter tick, one of wich was mine after i replaced the seals it seems to be very common issue with these cars and people do not know the reason for it and lots of them have said something like: "oh, it has been sounding like that for years" maybe that was the reason I got my GL so cheap...

Just wondering if anyone has an oil pump shaft oilseal? What are its dimensions? isn't it just a normal oil seal or some sort of special seal? It was the source of my ea82 ticking and it was in horrible condition (cracks and missing pieces )

4WD with dual-range manual transmission. How difficult it is to replace rear wheel bearings? I think they are the ones I need to reolace (D'OH!) I have to get new CV joints for front wheels so i thought i'd do the front bearings as well since i have to tear it all apart anyway 0.o

So, i finally bought a gl yesterday for only 60euros and cant wait to do some tinkering Its not that bad, it just needs a littlebit paint, wheel bearings for all the wheels and new oil pump seals wich i already ordered from subaru. I wanted to ask if the bearings for front will fit also to the rear? Did some searching before starting new thread and found out that some people have been using 6207-2RS-C3 bearings with succes. I wondered, since those bearings cost about half the prize than original subaru bearings... Will those bearings fit to all wheels? Thanks.

Yes, they really do grow on you. I got rid of my leone bout a 6months ago and since then i have ovned 93' legacy with dual-range transmission and ej22 And subaru domingo van(that thing was probably the funniest, scariest, and unsafest thing to drive ever) And today i am going to take a train and go buy me a loyale again Well see how it goes.. It will definetly b3 an adveture because the car has been sitting still for almost a year and now i have to drive it some 500km's to my home from Joensuu, finland The car itself costs only 100euros and is been driven only 200,000km

Here in finlad we get only a out 20-30 euros if we sell our car for scrap :0 There's plenty of cars that works for under 300 euros but for 4WD that is really low.. They are prized here and its not common to find street legal 4wd car under 500euros

Hello all. Long time since i have been here. Ive been busy with work and kids etc. But Now im coming back i am looking for a subaru leone that i could affodr and they seem To be relartively cheap but they also have rust.. The rust itself isn't too much of a problem though. So, i wanted to ask a question about one leone im thinking of buing. There is a some sort of gauge in the engine room right side of the spare wheel. What is it? Does it have something to do with air suspension or is it put there afterwards when the car came from factory.. The car has been driven only 220,000kilometers and has littlebit of rust in back wheel wells And some electric issues and broken exhaust. What do you guys think? Is 200euros too much? not quite sure yet at first i was thinking of making it more off-roadable but maybe i just fully restore it since it is almost rust free and it has been driven only 180,000km (according to the papers) it's a'88 model so it can be registered as a classic car here in finland

Hello again. instead of starting a new thread, i decided to ask here instead. I got the key fob working by accidentally dropping it on the floor. the problem is, when i press the button when doors are unlocked they lock (as they should) but when they are already locked and i press the button to open them, they lock again. there is very little time to pull the handle to open a door (maybe a second or less) and if one door is opened the rest of them are still locked o.O also only the driver's side door is locked/unlocked when i manually use the key to lock or unlock the door. is it supposed to work like this? (everybody grab a handle, i press the button 3... 2... 1... NOW! :D) anyone had this happened before? what may be causing it? haven't yet opened the door panels but the fuses seemed alright... (thank god for google spell check, as without it, this would be horrible to read to you guys )

I never realized that it was so north i'seen a map like billion times but now when somebody says, yes, it's a bit north but it isn't so bad in here, we get nice hot summers (+30°C) and nice winters to play with our subarus but the roads are open all winter and we are kinda used to snow PS. i think it is the electronic chip in the key witch is broken.... i tested the battery and i got 3,2Volts so it isn't the battery i think. -should it be working with infra-red like a tv-remote? I have bunch of old tv-remotes lying around so maybe i can scavenge them for parts and try to get it working.. Oh, I let my girlfriend try our legacy and she said it feels like flying when driving it and we have to get rid of her opel and she wants a subaru too

Yes! Bought it Took a little look on the paper pile and i found out it has somwhat .new shock absorbers and brakes. new exhaust system, all lubricants and fluids has been changed few months ago and lots of other stuff and the seller had receipt for everything turned out that the car is imported from russia. by a guy who lives in finland but works at russia :0 thw car itself runs great and no extra noises are heard. the body isn't so bad but it has some rust on it... the transmission works as it should and low-range works too. Only thing that doesn't work is the central-door-locking-thingy (i can't remember what it was in english ) but i will take a look into it tomorrow... Hi all! I've been member for some time now but never had the time to write anything here especially after my Leone rotted away couple of months ago. i have been reading the forum occasionally and dreaming about owning a subaru again. so today at 5am i was drinking my morning coffee and getting ready for work when i noticed that somebody near me is selling a '92 legacy STW with 2,2litre engine and dual-range manual transmission. so i thought this is the right time to sell my vw mk2 golf (witch i'we been stuck with ever since my leone was sold) and buy me a subaru again. the car has little bit of rust here and there but nothing serious. it has been maintained regularely and the guy who is selling it showed me the original warranty certificate and user manuals (dated back to 1992) and looooooong list of what has been done or replaced to the car. everything seems to be taken care of. timing belt has been replaced @330 000 (205 052miles) and oils and filters+spark plugs are replaced earlier this month (everything is written down or the receipt has been saved) so the question is, should i buy it (the price is 900euros witch isnt really bad price (1160 USD) only thing im worried about is it has such a high milage. coud i run into some serious problems soon after buying this car? its been driven 370000km (229000mi) i'we read that hthe 2,2 engine has good reputation as a reliable engine. -is it? i really want a subaru again and now is the change pecause people in finland appreciate AWD cars and they are quite expencive here. as i'm writing this i'm getting more and more certain that i am going to buy this car tomorrow :D we'll see how it goes, there were lots of people interested of the same car
