Fuel pump control unit '83 GL
How much for Hitachi?

Fuel pump control unit '83 GL
Hmm, was tight when I pulled it out of other car, I'll recheck.

Fuel pump control unit '83 GL
I configured it as the car I removed distributor from.

HT lead=plug wire? Dist. is tight. Orig. had Nippondenso dist. Module failed, they're EXPENSIVE, so replaced with Hitachi. Got new coil that's Hitachi FSM specs, installed resistor and resistor start bypass wire, which was not on car.

Fuel pump control unit '83 GL
At high speed, 65-70, it breaks down. Tach sometimes jumps up, most times down and fire is lost. Can drop speed to 45-50 and it does better, still glitches a little. Disconnected tach wire from cluster, did OK one trip, then began same again.

Fuel pump control unit '83 GL
Was hoping it had another safety in it. Any idea what/how the the pulse sensor activates the unit? Never heard pump activate at initial ignition on. Yep, has 6, why I hoped it had 2 functions.

Attempting to diagnose my distributor module issue. Already disconnected tach, which didn't help. Want to disconnect pump control from coil to see if it's affecting dist. module. Thinking it's got couple? safety functions, wanting to leave other(s) working. Hoping somebody's got function info.

'80-'84 part numbers
Mine all are above the L kick panel, above/beside the hood pull and fuse box. I'm just needing to take it off the coil to see if it's killing my distributor module. I could totally bypass it but I think it's got another safety besides the module pulse. Guess I need to start another thread?

Problem returned. Wanting to disable/bypass pulse function on fuel pump control. Anybody got good info on it?

Drove prob 50 mi., so far so good.

That did no better. Removing instrument cluster to disconnect tach to see if that helps.

Still having issues. Hasn't totally quit yet but glitches badly at hi RPM when hot. Trying another fuel pump control module/relay today.

Thanky, THANKY mkoch I installed Standard "Blue Streak" FD471 coil, as it measured the resistance ranges the '82 FSM specifies for the Hitachi distributor. Also installed a 1.5 ohm resistor off an '81 donor unit. I'll update this as/if needed.

THANX!! THINK I got it figgerd out. The 42988-7310 is the Hitachi coil, Hitachi CIT-79 in '82 FSM. NEEDS external resistor. MAYBE now I can quit killing the module.

'80-'84 part numbers
Thanx! My '82 FSM specifies the CIT-79 coil for Hitachi. Now to figger out which PN is which?
-
'80-'84 part numbers
Needing PNs for Hitachi ignition module and coil. Coil resistances different from Nippondenso coils, which I have several of.

'80-'84 part numbers
Anybody know how/where to find them? Dealers listings don't include them any more.

Subaru P/N for Standard LX-515 Ignition Module https://www.carparts.com/ignition-module/standard/silx515
Have nothing to check secondary voltage. Spoke with Wells(WVE) tech yesterday who said that the primary resistance is what kills modules. How does the secondary kill them? The '82 FSM specifies Hitachi coil CIT-79, primary resistance 1.04-1.27 OHMs, secondary 7,360-11,040. Their replacement coil is WVE 5C1138 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=937080&cc=1268311&jsn=356 One I'm running is 1.4, 14,080 Have 2 loose, 1.4, 9,690 and 1.2, 13,520

Subaru P/N for Standard LX-515 Ignition Module https://www.carparts.com/ignition-module/standard/silx515
These keep failing fast, thinking on trying to buy from Subaru. Saw this old post about coil incompatibility, wondering if could be why these fail so fast?

Fuel pump relay location
Been sitting couple months, wanted to prime carb by powering up the pump at unplugged module connector, couldn't figger how. With keyswitch on there's already power to the Blue/red wire. Anybody got any ideas?
