  1. You came to the right place!
  2. Thanks for the part Shawn, a great price as well. I installed the crank sprocket and the car starts well doesnt back fire , but instantly starts racing to hi rpms is it the throttle cable I have set wrong?
  3. Thx guys yur the best! Now if I could only find one that doesnt cost $300
  4. So last fall I had my heads done, installed them (EJ22), during the instalation I broke a tooth off on the back of the crank sprocket would this cause the engine to backfire and no run properly at all & eventually stall? I have checked the timing about 12x and did compression check on cyl 155 to 165 for all 4. No check engine light. Checked the plugs 2 front ones were carboned up back ones looked like they didnt even fire.... I checked the sparkwires for proper connection.
  5. Yeah last week I left an email at that site no answer yet.
  6. Yeah I have the same thing happening to my dodge ram, Thats why I trying to get my subi back on the road , cuz a heater core job is nasty.
  7. Thanks Fairtax, I sure it's just the timing as it runs but sputters and occasional backfire. I re check and test thanks again.
  8. Anyone know where I can get a crank timing pulley cheap I noticed I have a broke tooth on mine.
  9. FYI I went .008" on the intake and .010" on the exhaust
  10. So if I spin the crank 360 the way it is now (with the belt on) it looks good?
  11. Ok I removed timing cover and could you guys validate that these are the right marks to line up.
  12. Well I set the valve gaps as per my Chilton manual, so I figure I musta messed up my timing marks by a tooth......hmm but which way??? Also it souds like the backfires are coming thru intake.
  13. I'm just going to move the cam sprockets 1 tooth.
  14. I thought I was on with the marks, how far can you be off until you damage the valves? I guess I am saying what if I reset it to 1 tooth the wrong way.
  15. Okay the connector in the picture went to a block on top of the engine under the intake (had to see it with a mirror). Now I started it up and it runs extremely rough and backfires and sometimes revs hi and races.
  16. Grossgary is correct thats the sprocket that went on mine.
  17. I used Felpro, funny I am a designer by profession and I did alot of work for Gates and I would say nowadays 90% of their stuff is manufactured in China as far as tensioners and idlers.
  18. Holy crap do I fell like an idiot! I did the clutch cable about 4 months ago and threw the old end in my hatch back and thats where I put the rest opf my parts..............doh. Thanks Guys you guys are the best with out you guys I'm sure this Subie wouldnt see the the road again.
  19. Yeah I bought the car (impreza brighton stationwagon) about a year ago not knowing the life left on the timing assy. Apparently an idler lost it's ball bearings and smoked the timing belt, smashed the valves you know the story. As you guys know these cars grow on you so it's hard to send them off to the junk yard. So I jacked the motor up about1 1/2 inches enough to access head bolts. Rebuilt the heads, put on Gates timing assy with water pump. Yeah that bushing thing it's got a needle sticking out of it if you look close.
  20. Guys, I put my car back together thought I covered everythng with pictures and labelling things but I have a connector that I dont know where it goes and also a part I'm not too sure where it goes here are the pictures & I hope you guys can help..it's a 2000 Impreza EJ22 Connector: Mysterious PArt:
  21. Yep I guess I'll try the junk yard & the parts section of forum thanks!
  22. Guys before I did my heads etc..om 2.2l impreza I had a garage look at it and give me a quote , apparently they lost some of my valve cover bolts and my timing cover bolts I was wondering if you guys knew where to get some besides a junk yard.
