  1. remove the heads. difference is crystal clear. wet sleeve. dry sleeve Desperately Seeking Dry Sleeve
  2. Making some small progress on the long list of tasks ahead of me. After a bit of scrubbing - the OEM steering wheel (refreshed/restored) is back in the car I dug all of the OE door card skins out of the bags they were stored in. I sent them off to be repaired/restored as best they can First one is back from minor surgery - it is the best of the bunch. The others will not look quite this good. Most of them have tears needing to be patched and glued but I think I will stay the course and refresh them. The OE skins have a very clean look to them. And finally - I purchased some mesh vintage stonegards - I refinished them in black - and am test fitting them - they're not permanent just yet! I think I like the look! thoughts? I like them. Will look great as an accent to a pair of rally spots later on still hunting for an engine resolution but feels good to make small bits of progress along the way
  3. Is that a dry sleeve block? - on the hunt for an EA63 dry sleeve for the FF1 project.
  4. Well? The EA63 w/the infamous hole in it is finally out of the car again. Sadly - the NOS crankcase I purchased - seller had incorrect information and of COURSE it's not right for the car. Back to the drawing board. Got to find a solution. Gutted as this probably means we won't tow her to WCSS this year. It's just too much work to put the engine back in... only to take it out again. I'm on the hunt for an EA63 dry sleeve setup if anyone has any leads!
  5. I'm not intending to go full stock with the restoration, just tweaking things a bit I like the clear markers a lot so they stay - sorry! Grant wheel and hub are in a box. Make an offer if you're interested
  6. 1400 crankcase assy - on ebay but I think Danny is a member here too.
  7. Been sick for over a week but felt good enough to start working on that "grocery list" I have for this project. Door cards/panels are out, original door skins are off to be restored and repaired - hopefully by the end of this week. The OEM seat rails have been cleaned up - next is to sort out how to cleanly mount the new seats. May seek a pro on this one as I just don't have the right tools to do this they way I would like to see it done. The Grant GT steering wheel is out, the OEM steering wheel back in after a little restoration Added a vintage steering wheel wrap, soaked the wheel in aloe leather conditioner for days. Had some issues wiring up the horns, they were wired correctly but it took quite a bit of digging (by my hubby... i cannot stand wiring. makes my brain bleed) to work out that the steering column was no longer grounded. Will fix that and hopefully tonight will have the horns firing up! And finally - - Today the NOS crankcase is due to arrive - head gasket set will be here 1-2 additional days. Now the fun REALLY begins -Jamie
  8. thanks! between my collection of Subaru manuals and memorbilia & Steve's collection of manuals I think I now have every FF-1 manual / handbook possible I've wanted one of these cars forever and started collecting FF stuff years and years ago. I even have an original drivers handbook for this car! (and my 360 too! ) I'm a Subaru hoarder, proudly admit it.
  9. Hi there yes for sure this is a great car to get an opportunity to finish up/restore!! I have a parts book so if you get stuck in your research feel free to reach out to me and I'll try to help you figure out what is what
  10. Assuming the nos block is damage free (it's yet to arrive) The old block will come out and go off for a re-sleeve - if that is possible. I'll have to have our machinist inspect it. Would be nice to have it repaired and have a spare sitting around - that is the plan anyway!
  11. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!! Hi!!! and thank you. it is such a lovely little Subie. I adore her very much. Steve did such a wonderful job building this car up!
  12. First purchase to arrive at my door is...... Seats! I have found some retro (early 80's) seats in like new condition. Fabric + leather, adjustable and the correct color combination Still mocking up the mounts and sliders to install A tick wide but they will work!
  13. Little to no brake parts available - front brake wheel cylinders are literally "unobtanium" Brake Master cyl rebuild kits are getting harder and harder to find and piece together Usual brake problems are leaking cylinders and a clogged/broken master cylinder. Carb is very tricky to get fixed properly as well - just because parts are not out there for this unit. This van appears to be a decent example. (Wipers are wrong, missing front emblem - that's what I see from here) But from this one photo, for sure I have seen cars that are much - MUCH - worse. This one is probably worth (in the current market) $2-4k - I'd have to see much more of the car to be certain. The 360 Drivers Club is a great supporter of finding parts and offering assistance. If you decide to go this route, you'll need the club to source parts and stay motivated 360's are difficult to work on only in that parts are so hard to find.... If you can stay motivated and have patience, you will be able to have an awesome little show-off-car Jamie
  14. pics are a must to judge. how much rust? where and how bad? mechanical condition: brakes work? does the carb work? choke? clutch in good shape? In excellent condition these are fetching $13-15k In fair condition $7k Less than fair condition? It is difficult to say without more information Price could be all over the place depending on what is needed. Remember there are little to NO parts for these cars available. Jamie
  15. Oh my gosh thanks! Makes me feel good about taking on the project. I will start posting updates asap...
