  1. She's ALIVE!!!! Bit of a struggle and scratching of heads - but it was finally concluded that the EA81 distributor that was in the car was no good. We dug the OE distributor out of the parts bins, chopped off the tail end of it (OE dist was essentially too long, meant for a different block) and the rest is history! No exhaust yet - thus the BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP sounding FF but good news is she settled right down and idled all on her own! More video to come, it was after 8pm on a Sunday evening and I'm sure the neighbors were none too pleased as it was WaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaHoooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
  2. getting closer - hope to make progress this weekend but first need to kick this terrible cold.... gaaaa!!
  3. We have to check the vent/fuel lines Need more understanding on why??? PO installed an MSD ignition and if it's operable. Need to drain the fuel tank/check the fuel Still a whole list of things to do but the engine is installed and she's mostly whole again!
  4. Horns work! (BEEP BEEP you've been warned!) click here for video Engine will be back inside of the car TODAY
  5. I'm sure her feet were cold. she didn't last long out there - I didn't want her to get too uncomfortable - she doesn't have any carpet yet! =) oh! Her name is Fujiko 藤子 - - I just call her Fuji for short
  6. will do for sure! ahahaha me either thank you! must be fate as i stumbled upon them. a co-worker overheard me talking about the seat dilemma i was having and he simply said.... "i have some seats..." worked out well! too well!
  7. Small Engine Machine Works in Portland OR did the hole repair. http://www.smallenginemachineworks.com/ They did a killer job. Hope to have time to put it back together this weekend. Too many car projects lining up at one time! eeeek! (all of our other cars need attn too, including the daily drivers....)
  8. SEAT PHOTOS! Again, seats are from a 1982 Mazda GLC. They were from the original owner, who'd removed them from his car when new to install Sparco seats. Sat in his basement for 30 years waiting for a new home. So perfect. Love them so much. close up of the seat detail. they are vintage and genuine and I think I love that most of all. custom mounting brackets were made by www.chaserace.com - Doug (owner ) is a master fabricator. 2-3 test fit sessions, lots of measuring to make the seats fit perfectly using the OE brackets. These seats are just a tick wider than the OE Subaru Seats... bit of math to make them fit center and function correctly. Yay she has seats again! She is one very happy little car
  9. Saw that a couple of weeks ago when it was first posted... Lookie! she has seats! More photos of them actually IN the car very soon - need time to sit down and edit up some photos
  10. OMG! FINALLY! She will live again! THE HOLE.... IS GONE! (more photos to come soon - i just opened the box, crappy phone pix!) Now the fun begins.
  11. At this time I'm not selling any spares/parts - I'd love to help but I have to make sure i get her up and running before I sell off anything More or less it's a weld and re-sleeve the gentleman doing the work has decades of experience. i'm feeling confident we are in good hands. engine has been gone through and will be again and likely again - before we put it all back together again
  12. for those interested, here's the shop information. http://www.smallenginemachineworks.com/
  13. well? Shipping this guy off out of state today to someone who's decades of experience and should be able to do what it takes to make this crankcase like new. Little nervous but... could not find anyone in state who had the knowledge/expertise to get it done. wish me luck. i will need it.
  14. Well... regardless... I have taken the crankshaft to a machine shop for their opinion. I have to explore all options before making the next move.
  15. Would not even know where to start on doing that. I am very much a newbie to these older engines. EJ expert. EA - not so much. I would like to try to repair the damaged block as it is NEW. If it can't be repaired, then I'll really start cranking on finding a used EA63. If that doesn't work then.... well.... I don't know but I WILL figure it out.
  16. I had seen that listing but it's going to be $$ after shipping. The last purchase I made from him didn't go so well either. I'll bookmark it anyway. I appreciate the lead! Jamie
  17. because I don't have enough projects!!! Long shot I know but I'm going to try anyway. Looking for a hood (it's rusted right through) Looking for a LH fender (has more bondo than metal in it) Anyone local with parts? Suggestions for replacement struts? thanks in advance - Jamie
  18. yup that's the problemo right there. machine shop is the only way... IF they even think it's fixable. weld and re-sleeve the cylinder? Just not sure 100% if that's something that can in fact, be done.
  19. very sad to see them sitting there like that when so many of us in the 360 community could quite easily save them from what is to be certain death if they continue down this path.
  20. Yeah THIS is my new project. I need to tear the current engine down to the bare crankcase and see if we can't repair it first. In order to do that.... I just need one weekend where I'm not busy as f00k!! soon. very soon.
