Forester XT vs Outback XT
sasquatch replied to sasquatch's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXAin't that the truth....My mother bought an 04 Outback as they are letting them go pretty cheap right now...I was actually pretty disappointed with the cargo area compared to my '90 Legacy Wagon....the entrance w/my tailgate was bigger and I had more "useable" room.

Forester XT vs Outback XT
sasquatch replied to sasquatch's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks for the input...right now I am favoring the Forrester. When I took the tape measurer to them I was suprised with the cargo room. I have yet to see any wheel horsepower dynos.....people can post all kinds of crank #s but once all that power gets robbed by tranny, AWD system, etc it's interesting to see how they come out. I believe the Forrester is only around 250 to 300lb less but again I think not only does the turbo spool much quicker but it might be valved differently......still looking for input

Forester XT vs Outback XT
sasquatch replied to sasquatch's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXoh yeah...I don't know what the forrester xt spools at since I haven't driven it yet. I heard the Outback XT spools at around the same as the WRX (which I believe is about 3k) Any one have more/better/correct info?

Forester XT vs Outback XT
sasquatch replied to sasquatch's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXyou've never heard of the Outback XT? Dude I see them almost daily already (and we're in the same state). Sure your tubo starts spooling at 1200 but when does it reach max boost? W/o looking it up the 84 had about 115hp at the crank and about 80 at the wheel right?

Forester XT vs Outback XT
They both have similar amounts of interior passenger room and cargo room (just arrayed differently). Despite the 40 more horse out of the outback, the Forrester is a couple hundred lbs lighter and I do believe it's turbo spools much earlier (I've heard just under 2k rpm). I haven't driven the XT models of either yet though I have crawled through them taking measurements (I have a family of 4, 2 big dogs and do a lot of biking) Opinions?

B9X Anyone?
sasquatch replied to charlierh2's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThat 3 litre 6 seriously underwhelms me....I'll await judgement but will likely end up with the '05 Forrester XT next year.

Dirty headlights?
sasquatch replied to bill96outback's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI read this thread today and tried it on my tired, '90 Legacy lights...It WORKED GREAT!!!!! File this under why the fuq did I just learn about this now? I cleaned the dirt off them first then rubbed brake fluid on them and dried them. It took maybe 5 min for both and they really look brand new I'm shocked.

buy 02 or 05 Forester
sasquatch replied to ldelrosso's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWithout looking I do believe the new '05s are significantly lighter then previous years and the powertrain is geared and valved differently then other Subaru offerings as well....you may want to look that up....I don't have time to right now...there are a couple reasons for example why the Forrester XT is faster then the WRX but is a bigger car with lesser hp #s

Help! is the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE fixable?
sasquatch replied to itamar's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXdude, if it is bad...POST for a replacement. Awhile ago I thought mine might be bad (turned out to be a cracked hose) but the people on this board ROCK. I had three offers to sell me one....all were about 1/8 the cost of retail.

1990 Legacy LS wagon - what to do for heat?
sasquatch replied to peterpolaroid's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIt is really very, very easy...the control module itself has probably just gone out.....literally I think we're talking about two electrical connectors. If you have access to a fax machine I can send you the pages from my guide one taking the plastic dash pieces out....ask around, you should be able to buy one cheap.

90 legacy overheated twice tonight...what gives?
I don't know about "probably". I have had the problem many times...resulting from split hoses, cracked radiators, failed tranny cooler problems and a cheap t-fitting that broke...all caused the dreaded vapor lock.....all solved by burping the system...sometimes it was easy, sometimes it was a hellacious bitch. Defintely work on burping the system several times via several methods before replacing the head gasket

90 legacy overheated twice tonight...what gives?
It is the dreaded vapor lock...our cars are reknowned for it....it can be super tough to burp the air out of the system.....good luck, be patient...there are lots of tried methods that you can search for. I would try the easiest first by draining at the thermostat (and replacing if it's been awhile). Then I would move on to using a hose through the upper radiator line
