  1. just dawned on me 4x 140mm = 4x5.5in wheels
  2. so is your 2 or 4" eitherway im trying to compile a material list to perform the lift. tires and prefabed wheel will already be waiting.
  3. one more thing! whats the other (lower) therm swtch for? theres no wire connected
  4. miles!! big help. i appologize for the thread overload ive been informed and will do my best to keep existing threads regarding my issues open rather than starting new ones. ok great that helps a bunch so if hook up the ground thats missing and then do the frame ground test as you mentioned. the fan should come on. if not thermo switch.
  5. ok the wire on the top of the radiator is gone i can see where ther was a ground fastened to frame near the radiator. i will upload pics. now when tracing i should only have to trace from the fan to the thermo switch, corect? not that complicated, its all within the 2-3 foot stretch?
  6. okay i get the process. what bits would you recomend and definetly on a press with some wd 40 for lube. use a smaller bit first as a guide? what measurement would i be taking
  7. lol is this message on auto write. ive seen this message posted several times. lol sorry abou the thread. kylie doesnt think me and a drill and the car are a good idea, but while there away we shall play!!zzzO
  8. 1983 gl wagon 4wd im having similar problems, my fan wont kick on when its suppose to. but someone ran a hot wire from the battery to the fan and run it off a toggle switch. i cant figure out why my fan wont kick on. Now, i have two therm switch's on my radiator only one is hooked up though. kinda weird. im just goin to install a toggle switch into the dash. i rather control my fan anyway. its the unplugged wires up by the relay center that's bugging me??
  9. :-\ok. from what im looking at its just a yellow wire coming from the wire bundle under the radiator. is this 'connecter' somewhere within the wire bundle? what i am wondering now is theres a second therm-switch located lower towards the drain plug with no wire hooked up.
  10. my appologies as im new to the forum. i figured that new titles get more views. new titles for different topics. but this seems to be a pretty tight nit community and my threads get viewed none the less. i will try to keep any q's i have goin in a pre existing thread. sorry for the back up but i myself noticed i was dominating the new threads screen. if you ever make it to the big mitten and want to hit some scenic trails let me know!
  11. i plan on putting some 14's on my 83 wagon. worse case scenario i get some rubbing. either from the tire rubbing the wheel well over a bump, or from making turns. what would i then be looking at. buying some spring blocks? if so i would like two go wtih a 2" lift. but the rear sits higher than the front. should i compensate with the blocks to make it a level ride, or leave the factory ride height and just add the blocks.
  12. laughing hopelessy.... so i should stop calling all the junkyards looking for 14'" subie wheels in the 140mm pattern:o
  13. lol. that reminds me of the time.... south i-75, our trailer tire passes us at about 80-90 miles hour. gets up to the bosses truck 2 trucks ahead in the convoy. 10-20 seconds later the boss comes on the walkie talkie confused...uh houston i think we have a problem!!
  14. while i appreciate the offer, im from west michigan. thanks for the tips.
  15. thats awesome!! my gf wanted to post it cuz i really want to put 14's or 15's on OUR 83 wagon. having a real hard time finding the 4x40 bolt pattern, so told her about the chevy/toyota 6 lug conversion.. OH BOY!! so she wants to be reassured the wheels arnt going to fly off while she drives like a pi$$ed off teenager!
  16. im looking for a set of 14" 4x140 wheels. anyone know of which vhicle these would have come stock on. all the junkyards by me search by make and model. they keep coming up with 13's. which i already have!
  17. jump the terminals? hmm..im confused. i understand turning the key to run or acc, to allow power through the system, but which terminals am i jumping
  18. the fan runs when power is supplied, the previous owner had ran a hot from the battery to a toggle switch, then linked it to the existing hot wire from the fan. now what i understand is that the thermo switch is a ground switch. correct? and if they ran a hot wire from the fan, and when the switch is on it runs, that tells me they must have put a ground for the fan, or if my switch is faulty it could be completing the curcuit constantly. i have disconnected the jerry-rigged hot. and hooked up as it should be. fan just doesnt kick on. i also noticed a seperate therm-switch located a little lower than the first, with no wiring attached?
  19. running into problems with my fan kicking on when it supposed too. IT DOESNT! any way to test the thermo switch?
  20. thanks for the pics, i like the textured look to it, kinda tells you its gonna do its job. awesome advice from all thanks guys!!
  21. "play" "ajust" its all the same. ok now as far as a lift kit goes, does that does comprise of some spring blocks, larger springs? this will be my first lift.
  22. i once asked a gun smith, how to straighten a canted barrell on an ak. he replied. "its an AK, pound it with a hammer!"
  23. my apoologizes for my un-familiarity with the sub engines. that "blcok that i was refering to is the oil pump. and i think you guys hit the nail on the head. im almost positive whoever replaced the pump didnt replace the gasket, and im going to pick up the rubber o-ring, replace both and that should stop my outrageous leak. thanks for the input, i dont know what i would do without this forum. long live subaru!!
