  1. O.k. so I'm having some charging issues, and I thought that it may be associated with the warning lights that like to come on and stay on (brake fluid level, stop lamp, and A.T oil temp, along with the voltage warning light). So I began playing with the fuses and pulled the charge fuse...walla! the warning lights all went out and I could hear an improvement in the engine. But this fuse is for my alternator and I certainly can't keep the fuse out. But even eith the fuse in, I'm having to charge my battery every other day. I just had my alternaor tested and its pushing 14v. Battery holds a solid 12v. I'm lost, other than the possibility of shorted out wire or crossed wire associated with these warning lights. ANY SUGGESTIONS!! AM2SOOB22 P.S. the warning lights are all falsely on, when they come on it's all or none! and when they go off, my voltage gauge reads right. And on another note, I just found out my better half had left my hydrogen generator running while she was at work for 6 hours, could this have damaged my alternator?
  2. Yeah, as i travel through the state I find old gen subies on occasion. Most recently I ran into a guy who has a 85 gl turbo, he was asking 800 for it. Took it for a test run and white smoke billowed at 55, Didn't have the money to make to many repairs and was looking for an upgrade to my 83 gl, not a downgrade. He did though have 3 extra stocks wheels and a pug wheel to boot. I ended up picking up an extra wheel and some mud flaps. Well if you ever have a subie get together give me a shout! I'd be glad to do some trailing.

  3. well napa wasnt much help. the spray they offered was lightly textured and really isnt worth pics yet. this winter has ruined my side skirts.
  4. Advance Auto has a pretty good deal bannered on their website right now, 15% off $100 and $50 off $100 coupon in the mail. and free shipping. like a kid in a candy store
  5. i had mine wired directly to a toggleswitch in my console for a minute. worked fine just used the Premanufacred ground as you normally would. and an old vaccum cord to run up to the toggle. got me to the ice run!! changed fuel pumps and hooked 'er up right.
  6. forgive i know this isnt the classifieds, but i need a complete 2" lift kit for my 83 gl wagon. I'm already looking for some toyota 6's but the subaru community in west michigan is small!!
  7. ok. didnt think it would matter much other than sound. it all ready drives better without the old one. it was bad! thanks
  8. well today i took the liberty of crushing my muffler:horse: (plugged up p.o.s.) going to blow a hole in the pocket for a new one. any reccomends for a performance muffler. i'd like to keep it deep but not too loud. the thrush turbos sound all right and are cheap enough
  9. i did and these are the readings. 165lb #1cyl, 150lb #2cyl, 155lb#3 cyl, 135lb #4 cyl. i guess that is a big difference, but is that problem capable of completely plugging my air filter within a week? ive gone through two air filters in three months, both completely oiled. i swapped the pcv valve threw in a new filter same problem. so you think it may be the rings? taking the oil that passes the rings and forces it into the valve cover on compression stroke? am i on the right track
  10. 83 gl a/t. I've been experiencing substantial blowback from the passenger side vent hose of the air intake. I noticed a loud noise when I remove the driver side vent hose from the air breather, at idle. Changed pcv.valve and noise was eliminated, but still blowback! what should I look into next? also ea81 oil pump, is it a machine seal between the plate and the pump or should I have a gasket between the pump and the plate? I changed the gasket between the engine block and plate but still leaks roughly a quart a week. I will post pics in the a.m
  11. am i wrong? and the food was just fine till GD pooped on it. i mean this is a subaru forum, correct? am i in the wrong place? i don't try to encourage negativity, but when it comes my way, i have something to say. making smart comments about answering redundant questions... well i am so sorrry for wasting your time... im over this, i joined this site to gain knowledge, not to create conflict. so im not checking back on this, i going to carry on, and forgive those who have critisized.. i wish everyone the best and long live subaru.
  12. man i wish i wouldve posted pics. but on my oil pump, there was a...plasstic, or hardened rubber D shaped ring that sat perfectly over top of the spring on the pump, holding it in place, now what i was thinking, hot temps..hardened rubber d-ring, when i pulled the plate from the pump that d-ring that held the spring in place, stuck to the back of my plate and whalla! what im leaning towards is another gasket between the pump and plate. this oil leak is rediculous. and do u know how much of a pain in the arse it is to get to that top drivers side bolt on the oil pump!!! had to but a 10mm ratchet wrench just for it and make 1/8 turn increments.. not a fun night
  13. the whole reason i pulled it in the first place was to change the gsket and seal, cuz it was leakin like a size between the plate and the pump. gasket was fine, seal was in good shape...stumped i figured out the ball deal though. it wouldnt make much sense to have the ball IN the spring, it wouldnt function to open the valve then.. not the best design though. i could see the spring getting worn and the ball would fall easily into the filter area. what do you think about a gasket between the plate and pump, along with the gasket between the plate and engine
  14. i have made my self clear in that any and all help i recieved is appreciated, negative criticism on the other hand rubs me the wrong way. anyone can search through the posts, but do u know how long i takes to filter through till u find what ur lookin for. if i have a problem i create a post,, people answer, problem solved. but to make a fuss about something someone posted.....why reply? if my posts are that far outhere and irrelevant than dont reply! its not like im posting about the weather or FORDS. everything i have posted has stayed relevant to the website, forum area, etc.. GD i appreciate any advice you have, but if it bothers u that much to reply to my "redundant questions". THAN DONT ANSWER. its that simple. if u dont have anything nice to say............ come on children
  15. if i find somethig questionable....i will create a post. if i find something i not sure of.......i will create a post. if i know its going to bug you.......i will create a post. HAVE A NICE DAY!
  16. please do! good ridens i will post however i want, when i want. dont like it....dont respond
  17. just pulled oil pump, ball and spring fell out. just wondering if the ball is suppose to go in the spring? Thanks!
  18. u and me are gointo have issues!!....im tired of your negativity. u dont like what i post, too bad. it only pleases me to have u waste your precious time typing negative responses, and now that i know, i will keep doing it just because.
  19. did i ask, " hey who wants to come and criticize my post behind a screen?!" no i didnt. and just so u know, anal is certainly not the best terminology, definetly show's abit about yourself. for everyone else it IS an automatic and i cruise at 55 around 3500 rpm. seems a bit high. so i started looking into the wiring noticed no fuse in the kick down relay. pulled the fuse box and there is no wire leading from the fuse. but if all im going to get is criticism and judgement then forget it.
  20. ok, so i noticed there was no fuse in the kick down relay when i bought the car. so i looked at the back of the fuse box, and theres no wiring coming from the kick down slot. theres a main hot that provides power to the other fuses in the area, all with wiring leading off, but the kick down has no wiring leading off from it. is this normal? its an 83 ea81 motor gl 4wd wagon.
  21. oh wow that didnt work like i drew it. ok i installed my toggle swittch for the radiator fan, now if try grounding the radiator, just to see if it will fuction as its supposed to, will i have issues with my toggle switch. the thing is i never had to add a ground in order to run my fan off the toggle i ran a hot from the battery to my toggle then a hot from my toggle to the hot on the fan, but i didnt disconnect the existing wiring just linked into the hot. so im wondering if the radiator is already grounded out. if so then why wont it kick on as its supposed to. bad thermo switch? i might just leave the toggle switch. thank subaru for pre manufactured toggle switch holes
  22. there's no lowering of the crossmember? everyone thinks im crazy for even contemplating this here in michigan. these old subarus are a rarity here. if theres anyone in the west michigan area who would like to help it would be appreciated and compensated for! IF I STICK TO 14'S THINK I COULD GET AWAY WITH THE STOCK ADJUSTMENTS?
  23. even though i'm from the motor city!! pugs are impossible to find in michigan!! just got word of a good snow coming in, so i said screw it and bought some 175/70/13 cooper weathermaster. i'm gonna put the wheels on my backburner till spring
  24. thats what i as thinking. A ground is a ground. now to trace it, should i start at the yellow wire plugged into the therm-switch and follow that back. just confused on the wiring. (rad/fan) hot ground l l therm/switch? l L_____l fuse/box THIS IS HOW I PICTURE IT?
