Parts in or near Georgia? Old Gen Subaru. HELP!
Does anyone know where there is a yard or individual with lots of old gen Subies sitting around in or near Georgia? I am in Athens, GA. I am restoring a 1981 GL wagon and need lots of big stuff (like dashboard, etc.) I have a great guy out in Oregon but just too much trouble to get the big stuff here. Any suggestions or recommendations? Thanks in advance! Michael B. 30606

97 Outback girl needs help!
mb4lunch replied to Eva's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy head gasket went bad and I did a valve job and put on new head gaskets...only to find a cylinder warped due to the overheating. Lost compression in that cylinder. Had to replace the whole engine. :-( Check compression before doing heads..etc...

Adding power steering?
Can you add a pump and power steering rack to a no PS 1981 GL wagon without any super crazy mods?

CV joint removal
Get the boot off or pull it back towards the center of the axle. Now...just a couple of mm inside the lip of the big metal housing (cv-joint) there is a wire clip/ spring clip all the way around the inside (Hidden by grease.) Just use a tiny screwdriver to pop it out. It comes out real easy. Then you can slide the inner bearings away and out. If you need the inner bearing guide/ race to come off there is a circlip on the end of the axle/ splined part. You will need circlip pliers. Remove it and the bearings slide right off. Pay attention to which side of the bearing race was facing out.... Sorry, no pics. Hope this helps.

HELP! '81 GL wagon rear end crossmember bushings?
I'm restoring a 1981 GL wagon saved from the crusher. There is a big metal crossmember that holds the rear diff in place. There are 2 cylindrical rubber bushings (about the size of an old film canister) that are completely trashed on mine. Where the heck can I get those from these days? Or do I need to have them made? Can I get them at the dealer? Help would be greatly appreciated! Michael... Athens, GA
