Steering wheel tilt problem...no full tilt??
Feeling kinda lucky I went out and pulled the lever under the wheel...sho nuff the damn thing stuck in the upright position. I had tried everything to get it to do that. Someone on the board must have used a little voodoo to help me out. Thanks whomever you are. I can now sit in my car comfortably.

and now, the door warning light... ('00 Forester)
when I got my car the dome light was always on along with the door light on the cluster. Turns out the door wasn't closing flush. I was desperate (and cold) so I super glued a nickel where the PIN switch hits the door. Problem solved.....or so I thought. I went on vacation to FL (when I lived in CO) and left the car with my cousin. I get a call the next day saying the car is dead and battry is superdeaed. He jumps it, drives it around for the day, leaves it overnight and it is dead again. When I return to CO I get the vehiclw back in my possesion and notice the nickel fell off. This time I prep the area well and glue another nickel in it's place.....and it's still there.

Steering wheel tilt problem...no full tilt??
The other day I was detailing the leggy and I pushed the lever down to tilt the wheel so I could clen the column shroud...not a problem. Now it doesn't go up to the top and stay there. It will only click halfway up. It's a PITA. Has this happened to anybody else??? I'm stumped. I have exhausted my efforts trying to get it to stay in the upright position. Does it need some Rooagra???

How do you remove Front Grill on '92 Legacy
coloradosubarules replied to jimkup's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThere are little tabs you have to pry with a screwdriver and it will pop right off. (4 of them) If you break the tabs use zip ties to put it back on. If all else fails...

new member--timing belt question
Change the timing belt every 60K miles weither it needs it or not. Seeing as how yours probably wasn't changed...Get it done ASAP! While they are in there have them change the waterpump and oil pump gaskets (three in all) and tighten the screws on the back of the pump. $300-400....unless you want to do it yourself.... Drive on! Change your oil every 3K miles. Do not use Synthetic oils. Do use thin oil. If you ever for any reason have to drain the coolant system.....burp it well after filling it. Your AWD on the legacy requires special care. All tires the same size and within a 1/4 of an inch as to not scew it up. Welcome......to the other side.

cold air kit
To my knowledge nobody makes a CAI for the 91-94 legacy but if you look on ebay you can find univeral ones that will work. You have to by the one with the MAF (mass air flow) sensor adaptor. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7950180695&category=6763 Hope this link helps

Can heater core be a reason for engine being too hot?
If any coolant was lost period then you have to burp the system! Just do it and see what happens.

92 4wd Legacy w/175K...how much longer do i have?
Let me start off by welcoming you to the board. Fix your car! I have 243K miles on my 90 legacy and it still gets me everywhere it needs to be. Sure it doesn't peel out anymore and it doesn't get the greatest fuel ecconomy. The exhaust is kinda loud and the brakes make a little noise sometimes. Big deal. 3 places your oil can (most likely) be leaking from: 1. The oil seals on your oil pump (easy fix) 2. The cam seals (not the end of the world) 3. Crank seal (once again on the oil pump and no big deal. Take it to your favorite mechanic and have him install a new water pump, oil pump gaskets (3 in all and tighten the screws on the back) and timing belt. Replace cam seals if leaking as well. DRIVE ON!!! Take care of your car and it will take care of you. Best way to save alot of money is to find out yourself where the oil is leaking from. If it is the seals on the oil pump you will notice it just to the right of the center of the engine (drivers side) on the front of the block. Cams are on the left and right side of the block. do what I did...Degrease your engine really good top and bottom, then jack it up and start the car. Look for the leak. Then you can roll it to your mecahanica and tell him what I told you above. If the cam seals are not leaking I would not replace them. Others might but if you are trying to save the dough..... Hope this helps.

If and when you bypassed the core did you "BURP" the cooling system very, very well?

Power Light!
coloradosubarules replied to ericem's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYes you have to count the flashes. Josh, I tried the directions on your site and I couldn't get the power light to flash. It still blinks 16 times when I start the vehicle but I couldn't get it to do it as per your instructions. What gives? Is there any way I can call you or you call me and walk me thru it? I would greatly appreciate it. I would love to get her fixed. I did it just like your site says (printed it out) and I couldn't get it blink.

stereo & interior lighting wires
Always, Always, Always.....Use an aftermarket harness. DO NOT HACK YOUR HARNESS!! They cost less than $10.00 and you get a detailed list of all wires and what they do. I was a professional car stereo installer and I swore by them. Some cars have many things that depend on that harness. Some hondas run their OEM alarms thru them.

NEED HELP!! 96 legacy CV axle kicking my butt!!
I got it. It was rusted. I couldn't really wack the lower control arm hard last night because it was llllaaaaatttttteeee. I got it this morning though. I had to rent a 3-jaw puller to get the axle out of the hub. I also had to grind the inside of the spindle where the ball joint rests because of the amount of rust. Finally got and it is working fine. Thanks.
