I am going to be replacing the rusted out front fenders on my 90 legacy wagon tonight (about 1hr) and I need to know if anyone has any tips or tricks I should know about. I took the ones off the donor car but I used a sawzall to cut the bumper cover. Is there a civilized way to remove the fender from the bumper cover? What about install? Thanks for all the help.

I would love to hit the ONF but I am under the impression that my tranny is on it's way out by the blinking light on my dash. It appears to do well on the highway but beyond that I wouldn't trust it. Maybe I could ride shotgun with someone to do some wheelin. Anybody else want to go wheelin after the meet n' greet?

So the power light is blinking 16 times evertime I turn the car on. I figure I will just run in FWD so I installed the fuse and it will only work in reverse and first. The lever will be in "D" but it doesn't shift out of first gear. To this I say...WTF!!! I am assuming the tranny is farked. I plan on purchasing a 97 Kia so the roo will go on standby after the FL meet and greet. I am planning on doing the wrx/6 speed swap. I am also going to paint it WR Blue pearl. I know it is going to take some time....but I have nothing but.

Oh hell yeah man!! Looking forward to seeing everyone there. Sorry I haven't been on here much, this thing with my brain is realy sucking. My wife also kiled the HD on my laptop and I find myself needing a new one. HD that is. I will try to contact eveyone that is interested in going by e-mail in the days leading up to the meet.

I used the rubber grommet found on the drivers side firewall, right near the brake pedal. It is about 2 inches round. I just poked a small hole in the center and ran my wire. When I was happy with it, I applied some silicone around the area. You should see the gromet from under the hood. It is usually easier to get to under there.

As always, thanks for the help Josh. I will be checking the car out in just a few minutes now that I know what to look for. Kudd, We here at USMB are one giant Roo loving family. We are glad that you have decided to come on-board. If you ever have a question feel free to ask. If you ever have an answer....feel free to tell. It all helps. Be sure to check out the "off-topic" section where we go to cut-up. Greg

I am going to assume you are runing an aftermarket head unit with RCA outputs. If this is so there is one major rule you must follow to ensure you have the best sound possible from your newly installed system....run your power down one side of the vehicle and the audio down the other. This will keep the chances of noise getting into your amps. when it comese to protection for your amp you have a few choices such as circuit breaker (30amp min) and Fuses (go with a large fuse not the tiny ones you find under your dash) 30 amp fast blow minimum. Alot of people get confused when it comes to fuses and place them in the rear of the vehice and this is wrong. You are going to want to place your main fuse under the hood less than 1ft from the battery. This way if there is a short, the current from the battery will not be traveling into the interior of your vehicle. If you plan on running more than one amp then you are going to want to use a distribution block. This will take power (one thick cable) from the battery to the rear and then split it up into 2-4 smaller wires. Most of the time the blocks them selfs will have fuses too (bonus). Be sure to also run a ground wire that is as thick as the power wire from the battery to the dist block. This will ensure proper opperation. If you use too small of ground you could cause a fire in the interior of the vehicle. Always ground it to a very good, clean ground. A large bolt with a terminal ring is your best bet. Might even want to clan the bolt and area with a wire brush to ensure positive contact. If you will be running multiple amps then I would suggest a dist block for the ground as well. Gounding your amps in different places can cause noise as well. Hope this helps.

Do you notice smoke from the exhaust? Usually when antifreeze burns it stinks and you can really see it. Did you add water to a hot engine? Ever think the water pump is pushing it faster than your radiator can handle, therefore blowing out the top? Try filling the rad till it overflows, put the radiator cap on and then take it for a drive. Does it smoke? Overheat? Got heat? Get back to us.

Between the Bridged subwoofer amp and the amp for my mids and highs I am running about 1400 watts. I used to be an installer so I know that the ground should be just as thick as your positive cable. I have have 1guage going from the battery to the rear and then split to the amps. The ground goes from one of the bolts in the trunk latch (floor of wagon near bumper) and then splits to the amps. There is zero noise in my system..not even a turn on thump. The rough idle only happens when the bass hit, and that is when the most juice is being consumed. Therefore a cap will fix this problem. I figure it is better to just get a big one now so if I upgrade in the future I will be better off. I am thinking a 10 farad should do the trick.

Sounds like a typical case of air lock (bubbles in the cooling system) and there is an easy way to fix this. Pop the hood take the rad cap and bleeder screw off (top of radiator on the left) Start car and fill rad let idle untill thermostat opens and add water fill untill water overflows rad Some people do this once and think they are done..just do it untill your rad won't hold a single more drop. Weither or not you want to have the heater on during this process is up to you. #700!!!

You could search long and hard for the rear axle assembly from a 91 turbo legacy with the VLSD rearend. Then you could find a way to stuff it under your rearend. Hope this helps..

For a while now I thought for sure my car was haunted by some evil idle demon. I would come to a stop and my idle would be all over the place... Turns out the power being consumed from my amplifier was causing surges in the electrical and causing the idle surges. I turned it down and it would idle fine. Time for a capacitor. Man I felt stupid!!

I was attempting some off-camber stuff in my front yard the other day and I had forgotten for a second that my car was AWD..untill I went up a hill kinda funny and felt the AWD kick in and I was up...up...and away. Then I went through some sugar sand in 1st gear (auto) and had people nearby looking at me like I was on crack. I have a switch on the dash for my Duty C so I shut the AWD off when I take long highway trips.

Here's one for you to add to the "roos in the rockies" calender.
