  1. Hi. Long time lurker, first time poster. I've acquired a 2002 outback 2.5 manual, and it has power window problems that are frustrating the crap out of me. Basically: drivers side window works great, two passenger windows barely work, rear driver's side window does not work. Door locks work geat. The passenger windows used to work a little better on their specific door controls, but now they work barely, on any switch. Something seems to be causing huge resistance somewhere; when I press the driver's side controls for the passenger side windows you can hear the cabin fan become quiet. What I've checked so far: Driver's window switch (replaced with known functioning switch, no change) Passenger window switch, same as above. Small resistor under dash - Same as above Power window relay ( I think...unlabeled relay under dash , removed it and no windows even tried to work; replaced with one from a known working system - windows go back to barely) Passenger side window motor has been replaced - no joy Passenger side tracks lubricated and examined Yes I've checked all the fuses. Everywhere that I can see the wiring harness looks okay so far.
  2. I thank you all for your input. I'm even slower getting pix on facebook than I am getting the head on this subaru, but your advice has enabled me to order the damn gasket set anyway. If I ever get this thing running I'll post pictures, although I might just wait a few weeks for the temperature to come out of the single digits.
  3. Thanks for the advice. at the risk of sounding stupid...I have a good picture, but can't figure out how to post it. The Faqs say to use the 'attach' button but I can't find one anywhere...
  4. In my efforts to resuscitate my91 loyale I have acquired a used head but I now notice a crack between the valves....what I wonder is how significant this is? It's an old car and I'd be satisfied with another 50,000 miles. Is it even worthwhile to put this head onto the engine? I'll work on getting a picture up... Mark
  5. So if I'm looking to change over, do I just need the door card and the regulator and the window crank, or do I have to buy other things like the interior trim panel? Is it pretty much a bolt in installation?
  6. Curious as to how much trouble that is....I have a bunch of failing window motors and would prefer cranks. So you pull the door panel, and replace what all? Mark
  7. With some help, the answer turns out to be: Belt numbers are (OE) SOA329A389 or contitech 13X925 and (OE) SOA543114 or contitech 10X1250
  8. Hello Subaru enthusiasts I fell into an 89 Loyale with an EA82, and, inspired by all the talk in this forum, went ahead and replaced timing belts, seals, water pump and the whole nine yards and that all went real well. My problem is with the drive belts now. When I got the car they were put on incorrect and there are no numbers or letters on the one that wasn't broken. The car has power steering, inboard alternator, an outboard AC that says 'Diesel Kiki" on it. Which I guess would make it dealer installed? The only pulleys I see are the crankshaft, power steering, water pump, alternator (all of which have double pulleys) and the A/C compressor, which has a single pulley that seems to line up with the outer pulleys. There is no idler pulley that I see, and the only tensioners involve sliding the alternator in it's bracket, and the A/C compressor in it's bracket. My Sub dealer can't seem to help, and Napa insists that I need either a duralast 1760 (too small to get on) or a Napa 5734 (also too small to get on, at least too small to get onto the crank/power steering/water pump and alternator---those four pulleys are so close together that it's hard to imagine any belt not going on all of them, but I could be wrong about the configuration. Napa also thinks I need a 17390 for the A/C compressor, but it's not nearly long enough to do all five pulleys. Does ANYONE know what two belts I need? Some that won't require tire irons to stretch on? I know they had at least a couple configurations for belts on the loyales with A/c and PS..... This mess is slowly making me insane.
