i blew a head gasket in an ea81 once..... not pretty.neat gurgling sounds , but none the less, not pretty.it had over 265,000 on it though.and i must admit the previous couple of months i was not attentive to her needs .in other words , when you hear a sound, check it out.when you see a difference in performance, check it out.
old cars are like women, pay attention to them and they will last forever.
ignore them ,and they will go away quickly...and mad.

ok,priceless,would this engine do me good in my brat?would it bolt right in?what are the pro's and conss of a 1600 in my brat as opposed to an 1800 in my brat?off-road?bigger tires and such will this engine push me in dire situations?and so on.

what is this thing worth?the story is that it got taken out because of a noise, but when the new engine was put in the car still had the same noise.... yep....thats what i thought tooo. it ended up being a cv joint.so therefore it has been stored for 20 years and i could possibly pick it up.should i?oh yeah it is a 1600 . it came out of a wagon ,gl5.

well here is the deal....i picked up the brat,runs strong, tranny bad.....previous owner said that it needed a rebuild{at300,000} i would imagine so....baccaruda saw this wagon,as usual he inquired.had an extra engine ,i talked to the folks today and the lady told me the wagon needed brakework and a gander at the clutch.......but it was not for sale.i said i would do the brake work and look at the clutch for the engine...she said okidoki,maybe.well the engine has 17000 original miles on it, yes don't faint, i said 17000 original miles..... now i have to find the stuff for her brake job.i was thinking of taking my drums off for her... hence the ?......whew sorry , i been dyin to tell somebody that .

am i right in thinking that rear drums from a 4wd brat will not fit onto a 2wd wagon,both gen 2's.......?

thanks, i was having a dumb moment...i actually found an alternator pulley bracket from a volvo laying around ,a few washers on the bottom right bolt and it was done....i appreciate the tip though ... i was starting to panic from bleeding..hahaha

andy schmandy,he has never found all of my parts for me,never told me about this board and never, i mean ever,helped me work on a subaru.lol.....pssst....i heard he doesn't even drive a subaru.....yep .thats what i heard......
