Thanks PK! I didn't think you guys shut down. I guess I'll have to do some more research on AA and the OZified kits, to see what kit will meet my use. Thanks Rick
-
Aw man, too bad I didn't get in on this! I need to lift the brat! Rick
-
Does anyone know what's up with US supplier for the BYB Lift kits (ozified)? Are they still making kits? Are they still taking orders? I have e-mailed them...but they seem to not be replying after about a week....and in the past they e-mailed back within a day. I am seeking a lift kit, so I would like to find out whats up. Thanks Rick

I think I am gonna leave it to stock specs, as far as weight....balancing sounds expensive. I think I am going to buy a new flywheel, cause I found one for cheap...but if that falls through, then I will PM you. Thanks Rick

Sweet man, thanks...just double checking before I pull the parts. Thanks Rick

So any EA81 cross member will work, say from an old EA81 wagon or hatch?? Thanks Rick

Hi, I am in the process of swapping my 3 sp. push button 4wd auto trans. for a 4 speed manual Dual Range 4wd. I am aware that I need a rear diff., pedal cluter, etc. but I got to looking at my auto tranny cross member, and mounts, but they look different from the EA81 wagon I got the transmission from, as I couldn't find a Brat at the yard. I have heard that I have to swap out the radius rod mounts, but it seems like I am going to have to drill and tap some holes. Do these swap, and I am crazy, or do I have to get a manual brat cross member? Is there an easier way to do this, or am I just nuts? Thanks Rick

I would like to keep it way under $100 if possible. I don't want it too light, as I don't want it to stall out when I let the clutch out, but I want it light enough to get it to rev faster. So I would have to find out how much it weighs, and then figure how much I want shaved off. Can you machine it and still keep it balanced? Thanks Rick
-
That's pretty sweet, what do you plan on doing with all of the vacum lines that went to the stock air box, and the couple of sensors that are in it? Thanks Rick
-
Hi, I am looking for the lightest EA81 flywheel ever put into an EA81 to drop into my brat. And how much the lightest one weighs. Also, can I use a fly off of an EA82 or an XT6 flywheel with the EA81 engine/trans? Thanks Rick
-
I was thinking about it, but what about all the vacum hoses and sensors, and the "preheat" tube? Do you just retro fit them into the SPFI or MPFI elbow? As for the ECU, they make this stuff called plasti-dip.....it comes in spray can form as well as dipping form. I was going to spray all my connectors, and disty with this stuff to seal it from water. Might be a little rough if you have to get into the connectors, but it would keep the water out. Thanks Rick

Ok, so I was looking at my engine the other day, and the air horn on the air box is right next to the battery, and there is almost no room to attach a tube onto it, and then when you attach one to the horn, the battery interferes with the tube route. Aside from relocating the battery, or cutting the air horn off, and making it face twards the back of the engine compartment, I am not sure how to fit the snorkel. Thanks Rick

Ah!!! I have an idea!!!! Well there is a parking area right after you go by the toll booth. As you drive in, past the little "toll house", make your first right (it's like a 3 way stop type thing), go over ther bridge, and off to your right you will see a paved lot, and some tables. I thought we could meet here to get together, and when we are, there is a better parking lot for the swap meet kinda by the archery range & camp grounds, but I think it would be best to get everyone together, and then drive back to it as a group. (I of course will be doing 5 mph in the brat at the back of the line.) Sound good? See you guys there! Rick

Yes, I am actually! (not really) Subarus decked out for off roading are sweet, I can see that 6" lifted subie cruising around in the water! Rick

Cheese? Anyway......timming is dead nuts on @ 8 deg. BTDC I did the paper test with th antibackfiring valve, and it didn't suck the paper up. And accoriding to that, it is defective. But where abouts are the centrifugal weights, and how do I check/fix them? Thanks Rick
-
Ok, that sounds good! Now, if I could get some money, then I can build one! Thanks Rick
-
That maybe the ticket, to go into the spare tire area...but it just doesn't look as cool as an external snorkel, and I think it would suck slightly cooler air from the roof line as compared to the engine compartment. I like Q man's snorkel, that looks like the design I want to go with. Now, does it matter what diameter the pipe diameter I use? BTW, that's a sweet 2.7 ER27 hatch man!!!! That's freakin' awesome!! Thanks, Rick

Yup, I'll hall some stuff up there, most of it is for XT's, but most of that will work with any EA82. The meet should be in a few weeks, like in 2 or 3 that is. But I am not the one organizing this meet, so it's up to cutie-ru. But I am not to sure about bear creek lake park for the swap meet, so maybe it should be a Red Rocks...I think there is a back way in that is less steep. Hmmm...... anyway... Heck, I will trade someone parts if they have something I need. I need all the EA81, and Brat parts I can get! Rick \/ what he said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got the brat fixed, she runs good, with minimal hesitation every once in a blue moon. I am getting some backfiring through the carb when the engine is cold, and I rev it high then rip my foot off the gas...what does this indicate? Thanks, Rick

Good point, I was thinking about using that black PVC stuff (or is it ABS?) as it is solid, but PVC seems to have thicker walls. Ok, so the material has been picked, now, for the design! Thanks Rick

FirstsubaruGLwagon!!!! (say that 8 times fast) That is a great idea!!! I'll have to check it out. Come on, someone has to have more pics! Rick
-
Exactly! Duct tape rocks! (not as much as bondo though) Anyway, back on topic! Rick
-
Sweet! That's the stuff right there! "trees are alot stronger than spfi rubber" < that's what Silicone RTV & Duct tape is for! he he I guess it depends on what kind of off roading you want to do that determines strength, type, design, etc. Keep them coming!!!! Rick

Ok, I would like to put a snorkel on my Brat, but am not too sure of the design I want, what to make it out of, or how to hook it into the air cleaner cover (carbbed) or air box (if you have fuel injecton). I thought it would be cool if you folks could post some pics of snorkels, or if you have any design ideas I would like to hear them! Thanks Rick

OK, I think I have figured it out, but still need to drive it around to see if the problem still exists! I decided to pull the carb off, just for the hell of it, and I found 1 gasket between the plastic spacer and the manifold, and no gasket between the carb and the plastic spacer. And in the bottom gasket didn't have a port cut out for that little coolant port twards the front of the manifold, and it was packed full of RTV. Also I found a hose that had a hole in it that and I pretty sure that is goes to the EGR valve. SO, I made 2 new gaskets with gasket material, and cleaned everthing up, and re-mounted the carb. Also I pulled the PCV valve, it was fine.....but the hose going to it had some junk in it, and may have been plugged up. That's what I found, but we'll see if it works any better. I'll keep you posted! Rick
