98 legacy outback tranny trouble
I have a 1998 legacy outback with a 4 speed automatic transmission that the front differential went out. I am not able to find a new ring and pinion gear which are the parts needed. I am looking for a ring and pinion or whole transmission if one can be found. My next question is i have found two 2000 outback models with good transmissions. Can the two of these transmissions be interchanged with each other? Thank you for any help that can be provided to me. Mark Cornett

turn signals not working
stngllhm replied to stngllhm's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSo yes the stalk is the same from the 92 changed it out and tried it before I put it back together and they worked fine, I put it back together and nothing. So I started looking around and I can get them to work when I'm messing with the flasher. But if the flasher is the problem why do the hazzards work and what's the chance the flasher I just bought from autozone is also bad

Insurance rape: Need help proving value of subie
basically all i have to say has been said prevously. but insurance companies are the scum of the earth. they are the worst crooks you will ever meet i would rather go into any jail and and find the worst thief i could and make a deal with him than with an insurance company. on a side note when i wrecked my wagon the other insurance company tried to do a 50/50 deal on the fault and say if i didn't take that right then i would get nothing i told them to go f$^k them selves and i was calling my attorney. then i hung up 10 minutes later they called me back and took full blame for the accident. and even gave me a fair value on the car. my piont is just dropping the A word at insurance companies does alot. but you can't do that if your not willing to follow though. be carefull the insurance companies will try to F$%k you over any chance they get. best of luck

engine id
as far as the 4wd drive goes there great you can engage and disengage at any speed. and you drive as fast as you want with it engaged. make sure you don't try to engage the 4wd when your front tires are slipping let the front tires match the speed of the rear tires before engaging. the timing belts are not hard but make sure you read all directions thoughly and follow them. pay close attention to how you are soppose to line up the first belt and then spin the crank 360 degress before putting the secound belt on<my eyes skipped that part my first time moter won't start very well>. all in all not to difficult

an 88 gl should have the EA82 SPFI. which translates to 1.8 OHC<Over Head Cam> Single Piont Fuel Injection.
