Well here it is:
The fender was a little bent when I got it:
But I have since pulled it out:
The thing that bothers me the most:
I need a new headliner!
But this is without a doubt the most rust free gen 1 Brat I have ever owned.:banana:Now I just need to put a motor in it.

It's not the same size. You may be able to modify it to fit. I know your 84 radiator is bigger. Why don't you just give me your Brat and I will use it for my new 78 Brat:grin:

78 Brat Lower front valance GL type, Both door rear view mirrors, Blue headliner. Blue dash, does not have to be perfect. Wood 4speed shift knob,Tailgate chrome trim piece. This is so sad. I had all this stuff a year and a half ago. Now I need it all again!

The starter is different as is pretty much everything off your GL. You are going to need to find a parts car or people on the board here will be able to help you with parts.
-
Not the same type of fuel pump. Not even close.
-
Don't have to worry about this one. I picked it up tonight. Actually the owner Joe delivered it to me.
-
It's done and in my driveway. I will take some better pictures tomorrow. It was kind of dark when it got here.

Picture not showing up.

No you will need another manual for it. The Brat has the 1600 or EA-71 engine in it with a single range 4 speed. The 84 wagon has the 1800 or EA-81 engine and either a dual range 4 speed or 3 speed auto. Don't worry if you have any questions you will almost always be able to find the answers here. Good luck.

I will have pics up tomorrow after I purchase it (if it passes smog). And im not really looking for a race car just some parts to make it run more solid, as it will need some parts replaced.I also have a Hanes manuel that I bought for my '84 GL and I think it will work for the '79 Brat but it says it only goes to 1980, will it work???

Any pictures? This is not a performance vehicle so don't expect to find much for it. I may be able to help with the seats. I just have to see where I am at with my new 78 Brat project on when I get it on Monday.

I am going to have to try this. I was going to do the GM alt swap but this seems to be a lot less fuss. Now I just need to find a Maxima to get one of these off of. Also will need to find a EA-82 alt so I can get the spacer too.

They are. I have bought them before for my 78 Brat. I soon will be buying another set for my 76 Wagon.
Thanks it's amazing how hard these are to find"Illustration for reference purposes" the ones pictured are not for gen 1 subarus. I hope these are the right ones.

Here ya go. Says they only are for Brat but they will fit a gen 1 wagon also:http://store.classicgarage.com/subbratrears.html

My 76 camaro:
For this 78 Brat:
What do you think?

The woman that owns the wagon is one of my sons teachers. So I still have contact with it. Right now I am working on getting a 78 Brat. Seems like I always have something cooking with finding these old Subies. I have 10 Jackman wheels. All in need of tires and paint. I might be persuaded to part with 4 of them for the right price. Number is 286-8422.

well, we cant get em all rich, tis a bummer though. hows the 76 coming along? id very much like to see that thing. hey give those people your phone number at least because it may not be a ranch car for long. apparently the transmission was not long for this world. they may want to part with it sooner than later. hey you got any extra rims? the early white spoke jackmans by any chance? ill cross your palm with some scratch as they say. -
Windshield gasket or rear window seal. They are quite common for leaking.
-
You mean a grill like this:
-
Won't matter they are not available any more.
-
Well this ones not going to be mine for parts after all. The owners have turned it into their ranch car. Sucks! I would have liked to have got some parts off that wagon.
-
Well if some door seals for a gen1 stage 1 wagon come along let me know.
Richard

If I get it I will part it. I don't need the engine. The new owner says it still runs. Yeah it is a real rust bucket too.
-
Well you will find out rather quickly that nobody makes front struts for them anymore. Your only hope for that will probably be Ebay. Took me about 2 years before I found my set.
-
Yeah it probably is the one you are thinking of:
I have been talking to the person who bought it from the Ashley lady who had it. Just trying to get a price out of them now.
-
Yeah I realize that If it is not cut out it will come back. I have a lead on a 79 wagon with a good hatch on it. Just not sure if a gen 1 stage 1 wagon has the same hatch as a gen 1 stage 2 wagon.

You can take the heater core out of the GL but it won't fit your 79 Brat. Not even close to the same style.
