  1. It has low miles (90,000) and the inners seem tight to me. The outers are a little loose, and the ball joints are just flopping around like nobodys business. Can you send me a link to what I need to get? I have the ball joints, I need the left and right outer tie rods. Send me what you think would be best.
  2. mine has power steering, does it have inner rods as well as outer? While I was changing the oil today I glanced at it and couldnt tell as it had a big boot in the way.
  3. I am going to replace the ball joints on my Soob, and wondered if I should do the tie rod ends also. Seems like my local parts house cant/doesnt know where to get them, so I called the dealer and they are roughly $52 a piece... so I am in $200 just for tie rod ends. Also wondered if I could get some parts numbers from you guys, and maybe that will help my parts house find them for me.
  4. I bought it from the second owner, who received it from his dead grandmother, who was the first owner. It had 70k miles on it, has 88k now. I have alot of the service history from the PO. The motor shows the signs of being a low mileage motor, and the guy told me everything else about the car, good or bad. So I'm banking on it being an original.
  5. Well I know that the motor hasn't been swapped. The oil pump has probably been swapped. But anyway, until I remember to get a plug, it will stay in place, doing nothing for me.
  6. No it doesn't have a guage, just the light. I will just leave the sending unit in it for now, its not hurting anything anyway. I was just curious in case it needed to be hooked up to something. Thanks for al the info! Also, is it bad that the oil pump has been replaced?
  7. I knew that it was something to do with the oil, although I was more wondering where the wire that connects to it is, or if it is gone (I still haven't been able to find it), how do I install/rig a new one into the car. The other forums I am a member of often insist pictures of anything and everything, so I am in that habit. (It also helps alot). My car is a Loyale 1993, less than 100k miles, original engine. Just someone has broken off that wire at some point another, or replaced the sending unit from another car maybe? I did indeed replace the unit before I finished off my oil change/service on the car. I wasn't attempting to drive it around without it, I'm not as dumb as I look.
  8. Was changing my oil for the second time since I bought this car, and noticed this little guy just sorta hanging out beside the filter, no wire in sight with a broken off end, but the ring terminal is still screwed into it. Took it out, cleaned it up and figured I would ask what the he!! it is. Here are some pictures of it all cleaned off, has 12v (volt I'm guessing, that pretty simple) and some other stuff stamped onto it. I figure it has something to do with the oil? Here is where it screws into.
  9. Just replaced the wires, plugs, rotor and cap 10,000 miles ago. Vacuum leaks I could see, most all of the tubing is getting less flexible and all the vacuum tees and such are getting dry and brittle. Any other guesses?
  10. My 1993 2wd Loyale with a 3eat, stumbles/surges on takeoff, from my driveway, a stop light or any other time I am stopped. It acts like I am patting the gas pedal (if the pedal was super responsive) It only happens when I lightly press the gas, as in... I just want to drive the car, not floor it and race from A to B. I can drop the hammer and it doesnt stumble, but who wants to drive like that? I have a clean fuel pump, that pumps great, no obstructions. And im pretty sure I am getting good fuel pressure. Any ideas? Throttle postioning sensor? Something else?
  11. So could anyone give me the dimensions of a the size head unit I need? Right now it has a small Pioneer super tuner with a big spacer/cover holding it in. I will get some pictures later.
  12. Thinking about buying this head unit to replace the aftermarket one in my Loyale. It doesn't come with plugs, and I need to know what the round DIN connector is, and also, does anyone have it, and the regular rectangular connector? If so let me know. http://www.ebay.com/itm/390795332642?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  13. Txted the owner of the black forester. He said it had 220k miles. I told him thanks but no thanks, I needed something with a little less miles.
  14. Thanks for the quick response and helpful info. I might be going to look at the last one in person today, so I will keep everyone posted.
  15. All these cars are a decent distance from me, and I could easily pick them up if I decided to pull the trigger on one. Let me know what you guys think. Specifically, which motor does the 2000's era before 2005 Forester have? Also, what engine do the Baja's have? http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/4386645660.html http://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/4325531322.html http://hickory.craigslist.org/cto/4329943553.html
  16. Turns out the guy that had this car sold it out from under me on the day I got off work early to go look at it, I was about to leave and he txted me. Such is life I guess, maybe it wasn't meant to be? So continues the search!
  17. Thanks for the info and input. Went to see the car today, body was beat to hell (an axe murderer got after it), but the engine and everything was in good shape. I decided to pass when we couldn't come to an agreement on price. (I offered $2000 because of all the scratches, dents, and axe murderer wounds, dirty interior, and multiple other faults.) Now I am once again on the hunt for a under 130,000 miles, good shape, good motor, clean Soob.
  18. He was asking $4500 and I got him down to $3000. Im not buying this car after reading up on the DOHC, Im not that strapped for a vehicle, just wanting to get a good range of opinions. Thanks again.
  19. Another thread about a car im looking at..., 2001 Outback H6 with 144k miles for 3500. Go!
  20. Do the DOHC engines suck that bad? I perform all my own maintenance and I'm not scared to fix things, would an DOHC with 94K miles be an alright buy at $3000?
  21. I had a thread going asking about common 2003 Outback problems, would all of the answers I received apply to a 1997 Legacy Outback also?
  22. Alright, going to check it out tomorrow after work. If it has any of these problems, is it worth getting?
  23. I DO perform all the work on my vehicles, so if I can get good clear descriptions and explanations of what to look for and where, maybe pictures if at all possible, I can find out if it has any problems.
  24. So, check the oil pressure while hot and at idle, it should be a minimum of 10psi. Headgasket check, got that. As for rear DS head seam, please explain.
