  1. have an 89 wgn w/the dual range 5sp...when cold its a little notchy btwn 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th...after warm though its pretty smooth...the odometer shows 203k and i have no idea if or when the tranny fluid has ever been changed...would this be a good time to go the 50/50 route with synthetic and normal gear oil? and if so, suggestions would be nice alan
  2. cool..that's the one i posted about when it first showed up on ebay!! lusting after those seats i tell ya but too far away alan
  3. am looking forward to pics of the seat reconstruction as my seat is pretty shot also
  4. can someone with a subscription to carfax run a check for me? jf2an53b7ke407448 can pm me or email me at babylonfivefan@hotmail.com thanx! alan
  5. probably a silly suggestion but what about timing belts? oops, didnt see where the tb covers were taken off..sorry:D
  6. would like to watch out for sales and stuff on oil and was wondering what people used..i have an 89 wgn with the spi....use to run castrol in denver many years ago along with the factory filter...i have done a search and found a bunch of stuff relating to dino vs synthetic, but really not that much on brands within the dino line.... and, battery recommendations would be great also as i think i might need to replace mine in the very near future... thanx!
  7. power of course....with my old 69 barracuda i had both
  8. well, that included his normal $40 to pass emissions, but at that point i was willing to go the waive route even...
  9. whoo hoo cause the subie passed emissions finally..boo hoo cause it cost another $15 for the test...$45 for a new o2 sensor which the guys mechanic said he put in new but when taken out CERTAINLY wasnt new and $75 to the emissions guru to intall said part...but, all is good to go and it idles better now also.. so, another plug for the s. seattle emission guy warren!! alan
  10. well, failed emissions again this afternoon, but it was closer, passed the idle stuff but failed the cruise stuff..so, thursday its off to s. seattle guru guy and then try again...
  11. ok will probably visit one of the pap's here in the seattle area on monday...everett or lynnwood i guess...any suggestions on which ones? the more subies the better of course and is either one any, uh, warmer? still not quite use to the damp cold here in relation to where i use to live in denver thanx! alan
  12. yeah, just the normal ea82...i think i should stay around 2"
  13. ok, once the subie passes emissions i would like to have it detailed out...needs some kind of precleaner done along with the wash and wax etc...interior isnt too bad but the windows need help also...my garage here at the complex is pretty drafty so any kind of work done there will be very frosty, hence the need for a detail shop or person... reply here or to babylonfivefan@hotmail.com thanx alan
  14. well, the 89 spi wgn failed today, both tests, both are way too high...tailpipe is black so this would seem to indicate running rich and too much unburned fuel (see, i did do a search on this )....i have to get this thing to pass and pass quickly as my wife's job hours changed and now we have to do the carpool/bus ride thing and i still have about a 2 1/2 wait btwn the time i am done at work and when she can actually pick me up...so, time be important.. any tips? that stuff in a can seems to work according to what i read here in the archives and then there's that guy in s. seattle i guess but i really would like to pass on the retest and not have to pay the $15 again.. thanx! alan
  15. yeah, the one place i checked here wanted $350 for just the pipe and muffler!! all custom of course but sheesh!
  16. would like to use the advice in the performance area of the ea82 mods and go to a turbo muffler or cherry bomb...22" extension pipe etc...but dont have a welder or the other tools necessary to do it was we moved here in july and are just renting and you know how complexe's are with their lists of what you can and cant do...plus, i am really a klutz unless i know EXACTLY what i am doing so, am willing to pay someone to do this work on my newly acquired 89 subie wagon...reply here or pm or to: babylonfivefan@hotmail.com thanx! alan
  17. okey doke if i go to 14" pugs will the spare fit under the hood? as i remember the 185/70/13 was pretty tight on my earlier wagons...and if it wont fit, then what? thanx! alan
