  1. anyone have a sound clip of a cherry bomb or turbo muffler on a ea82?? i have googled and cant find one.. alan
  2. well, tis a good thing i went this morning...stopped by to have them remove a plug/take a wire off another plug/take coil wire off disty and maybe do the timing...he finally had to use a breaker bar on the stubborn plug...used some real nice long needle nose spark plug wire pullers on the other one...got the timing done and then, well, the coil was another story...the wire had welded/melted itself inside the tower...they had never seen anything like it! so, replace cap right? well, none of their caps fit so they had to go next door to b&b to find the correct cap and the one that fit is suppose to fit a 86 subie w/hitachi carb! so sometime in the past the disty was changed... anyway, all is well and kudo's to steve and the mechanic who worked on it(wasnt bryan), and i can highly recommend them!! wish they were closer but there ya go alan
  3. think i will be able to sneak in this morning?
  4. anyone know if steve's subaru in burien is still going strong? have to pick up the wife at seatac tomorrow morning and am in the middle of changing plugs and wires on the subie...plugs and wires on the passenger side was fine but the front plug is stuck and the back plug wire is stuck on the drivers side also cant get the coil wire off the distributor...with all my pulling and twisting and stuff on the wires(yes, i gripped down low...boy, that sure doesnt sound right ), i hope i didnt loosen anything, car seems to idle ok so i guess its cool but would like this to be done "professionaly" thought i would just stop by and see if they could fit me in real quicklike..as i work retail and dont get many days off during the week
  5. got it...saw the diagram in the usrm but the caption read for the ea81 and didnt scroll down to see the notes.... thanx! now we shall see if these wires were a good deal
  6. okey doke...got some ngk plug wires from the pap but dont have a diagram on what cylinder is what...i know i know, i'm not very bright but want to do this right...so, standing in front of car, which is what on the drivers and passenger side... thanx!
  7. gee, maybe i should have said that in the first place eh? sheesh, what a dolt i am...going to edit now..
  8. great pic!! but, umm, yours is a mid 80's subie and i need a late 80's pic of the bracket...most different indeed...but thanx for the effort
  9. amazing what i can do myself got the deflector on, looks pretty good too w/a couple of coats of flat black paint and even got my euro jr. cupholder installed too!! well arent i something ...just drilled down in front of the clock, ran a bolt through, took off the passenger side center air outlet and threaded a nut on said bolt and voila!! well, am going to install the deflector this afternoon after work but when i pulled it from the pap i neglected to make note of how the brackets fit on the hatch...the long end up or the long end down..can someone take a pic for me and either post it here or send to: babylonfivefan@hotmail.com thanx! alan
  10. hmm, just took out autolite plugs from my wgn, well, 3 of them anyway...one of them is being very stubborn and i am worried i'm gonna break it..so, its time for some pb blaster and maybe an impact gun set on low
  11. have read that folks either like the accel or ngk 8mm wires...any real reason for one or the other? what should i expect for a price and where is the cheapest place to buy them? 89 wgn na.. thanx alan
  12. i would say that if the factory air intake is where the cone filter is in the pic then it shouldnt be aproblem..but i havent seen what a turbo looks like in the subie engine compartment..
  13. ea 82...and there are two pics in the photo gallery
  14. well, he's got alot of subies but has been shut down since march!! drove all the way from redmond up there and went to his door where his weiner dog wanted to make me his lunch anyway, he said he's been shut since march and cant sell cars or even parts... i guess the state gov did its thing...anyway, i was pretty miffed of course and he suggested a wrecking yard up the road where they had some subies but pretty picked clean..all in all, a nice road trip but wished he had been able to let me roam and pick since it looked like he had a couple of nice wgns...
