  1. The 98 EJ22 condition unknown, bought from junk yard, I put new bosch platinum plugs in, wires looked ok....... Timing belt lloked ok. Engine had 73,000 miles on it...according to seller ( ebay, very high rating). CEL is on, I am going to get codes in the morning.
  2. Hi. I just swapped out my 97 OB 2.5 ( w EGR) and put in a 98 2.2 ( no egr.) Things went fairly well. I read about the operation here for months before attempting this. I would have never attempted it with out the many threads heere on how to do this, thank you. The 2.5 has a blown HG or cracked head. The 2.2 engine starts fine, idles well, idels smooth, no vibration etc. Whe accelereating the engine bucks , lacks power , and can only be driven by extreme feathering of the throttle. It will eventually rev all the way, and comes back to an idle great. Did I miss simething? The only emission hose I didnt really have an exact hook for was the solenoid on the right fender, and the canister. On the 97 canister, there is two ports, a big and small. I hooked the small one up to the solenoid. Thanks again if you can point me in the right direction here. Paul

  8. Thanks I like that idea...no problem with snow getting in there?
  9. Of course I had the fuel filter in stock in my garage.....it helped but not completely.... accelerator pump draws from bowl, correct, I observed a "dribble" not a squirt..kind of like it needs the roto rooter treatment if you know what I mean.... I guess after 18 years the carb needs some cleaning and rebuilding...... is the weber hard to do? Can I cheat and leave it on the car and just clean it out, change the top gaskets/ accel pump???
  10. New plugs , wires , cap rotor, accell coil.....rna great all winter, now, sometimes, mostly when cold, mostly at lower rpms, when giving gas it bucks, almost dies out, ( doesn't stall) feels like someone turned the key off! let off the gas, slowly gte back into it, and it goes...all the way to 5000 rpm.... Fuel filter? Belts? Thanks, Paul
  11. Anything strange or difficult about swapping this out? Thanks in Advance Paul
  12. Doesnt the cat converter change the carbon dioxide? into water through some sort of ion exchange? Seems like sulfur is involved as well... cant ( dont want to?) remeber all that chemistry stuff.... Anyways, the heat of exhaust makes that water steam, and visible in the real cold weather, biut not in the wamr air, although its still there....
  13. hahahhahahahahhaha nope...I cant find any electrical control functions that would cause this as result of a failure...kind of stumped....
  14. mostly 4 low, mostly when turning left, sometimes 2000 rpm some times much higher.... what causes this???????????? 87 gl wagon 4wd dual range Paul
  15. and would you be intrested in selling? feel free to email me...... TIA Paul
  16. I'd be intereted in getting one of those..I have an 87 ....any idea of a part number , offical part name?????
  17. I dont even have a skid plate....all that is there is a jack plate ( 4 inches "square").... How big is your skid plate?
  18. What ever heli coil package you buy , it will tell you what size stud its for, what size drill to buy... I used M10 x 1.25 stud, which called for 13/32 drill, but you could use Non metric bolts with a non metric heli coil kit..
  19. I bought a heli colil kit ( tap, 10 coils ) for $30 at Pep Boys...all you need is a 13/32 drill bit and 45 - 60 minutes of time, real easy job...use studs not bolts for replacement
  20. 87 Gl Wagon 4WD, do any of the models include a splach plate to stop water / snow from below hitting engine/tranny?
  21. Does anyone really do this , or just use a block of wood and a hammer for installing new cv axle????
  22. hahahhaha ya thats part of it..I got a tranny from everdrive, $500, one year unlimited mileage warranty...works great! Everything functions, going to put my new struts on this weekend and I should be ready for our Syracuse winter of 120 inches+ of snow...got a remote starter, a block heater, and new snow tires.... PM
