Found this forum threw Google. I got my Outback from the Auto salvage yard I work for. It was going to be crushed. It seemed to run just fine at first but started to have head gasket problems. I pulled the engine and did the head gaskets in my spare time. The car has 267,000 miles but the engine still had a very strong cross hatch in the cylinders. It seems that it has had a rebuilt engine installed. The engine had the timing belt guide that was only used on the manual trans cars. Mines an auto trans.
