97 outback transmission
I recently bought a 97 Legacy Outback Limited with no engine in it. The tranmission was still intact with torque converter restranded with some wire. I bought a seperate engine to install 2.5, after install the engine runs perfectly but the trans acts like the older cars did when they were low on fluid. It slips when shifting gears and just acts slugish without snap like my 95. Is they any electrical or vacuum conections that i might have overlooked? Any ideas would be great, i really don't want to take it all out again so i'm hoping it's a connection. is there any vaccum lines going to or from the transmission that could cause slipage or electrical connections. Thanks Steve

engine swap in a 97 outback
i'm putting in a different 2.5 into a 97 legacy outback limited that the engine was removed when i bought it. i'm getting ready to put in the new engine and it looks to be alot easier to install the engine with the torque converter on the transmission, but i can't get the converter off the engine. some help would be greatly appeciated. thanks steve

suspension upgrade to legacy
i'm not a mechanic but i had a strange idea to help raise the rear end of my legacy wagon when theres people in the back or when i pull my trailer. i had a set or coil springs from a 86 pontiac grand am that were 1/2 inch narrower outside dia. than the inside dia. of the strut springs. i took some heater hose and put about 4 inches on each end and cut the second set of springs down to 1/2 inch taller than the compressed spring on the strut put it inside and reattached the top plate. it did'nt rattle one bit and gave me an additional 2 inches of ground clearance and a rear suspension the does,nt give at all. i had also added outback struts to raise it and now have 29 1/2 inches to the top of the wheel well with 195/65-15 on.

Camber/ Allignment Question?
swilde20 replied to a post in a topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXi just put outback struts on my 96 legacy ls awd wagon which through the camber way off but all i did was use the bottom bolt off the old struts which is thinner and put one of those in the top hole and pushed the top in as far as it would go. i had the alignment checked and it was perfect. you can get those bolts at any subaru dealership for alot less than 100.00.

'96 Outback...Tweeters?
swilde20 replied to _Aramchek_'s topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXthe wiring is right behind the panel, you just have to take it off. i put other tweeters in by taking a hole saw and drilling a hole in the center and getting some strong glue and glue the speaker to the panel, connect the wires and reinstall the panel and it worked great. steve
