  1. even with the headgasket fixed who is to say that it isn't going to fail again. extended warranies cover more than the h/g anyway. If you have the money in bank to pay for other repairs then don't worry about it but if you figure that you could easily spend thousands if the transmission fails, abs or a number of other things and the contracts are pretty clear about what they cover and how to process a claim and if your service department does their job they will do everything they can to get the repairs done that is how they make money
  2. I would suspect that one the contacts in the headlight switch has worn out.
  3. back in the early-mid 80's Honda had an issue with fuel filler necks rusting out. a recall was issues since so many people had the problem and it was deemed a saftey concern, maybe worh letting Subaru know so they can help.
  4. I wrote for Honda for 9 years and I now work for a Toyota bodyshop and I drive a Subaru and have for most of my life...
  5. are you sure the noise is coming from the front, I have a 00 2.5 rs and my rear wheel bearings failed at about 40k, my dad has a 97 impreza and he had the same problem his were so bad that they fell almost fell apart in his hands.
  6. air/fuel sensor, I was a service advisor for Honda for a very long time and had seen the same symptoms on 92-95 civics took a while to diagnose but each time we replace the primary o2 sensor and it fixed the problem.
  7. had similar issues with my 2.5 rs, no check light I replace my A/F sensor and haven't had any probelms since
  8. I would suspect the regulator, they bend and bind and then the window can either not go up all of the up or go up crooked.
  9. My first was a brown 81 GLF, we call it the turd. I loved that car more than anything when I had it. My dad bought it in 1991 it had around 60k on it and the lady that had it thought it needed a clutch. My dad got it for $250 put a clutch cable in in and I had a new best friend. That car was the start of something great. I cried the day that a lady in a 1993 white Toyota Camry hit me and total the Turd. I still have the grille to this day. since then we have had tons of Subarus, My dad would buy them cheap and fix um up and sell them. My dad now has two SVXs, an Impreza wagon, and a few others, I have a 2000 2.5rs, my sisters both have Subarus. I miss the Turd
  10. Honda has a product called shinitsu grease, not quite sure of the spelling. works great, I keep a tube with me at all times.
  11. I am having the same symptoms in my 00 2.5rs and we are replacing the air fuel sensor. This just confirms our diagnosis. thanks
