  1. I'm in Austin, TX. If there was an old gen event or one that was a good mix like WCSS then I'd for sure be interested.
  2. Thanks for all the help. Going to check out car-parts.com. I had one shop recommend I consider the EJ20. Any advice there? If anyone happens to have one available, please let me know.
  3. Thanks. I called and they don't have any EJ22s right now, but said to check back in a couple of weeks. Their prices are more in my budget.
  4. Thanks! I checked them out and they're out of my budget for this. Really wish I could. They look really great.
  5. Hello! My 85 brat had an engine swap done for the EJ-22. The engine I got though ended up being bad. I moved to Austin, TX from Portland, OR. It's a lot harder here to find these motors in central Texas. I was thinking of buying one online and having it shipped here where a local mechanic will do the work. I'm no mechanic myself. Can you guys recommend a site where I can order a good, rebuilt engine? Thanks!
  6. I posted this in the wrong forum. If someone could delete it I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

  8. I found a pair of fun top gaskets for my Brat that I'm considering buying. One of them needs reglueing. Does anyone know how difficult this is? Seems easy enough. What kind of glue do you use? Thanks!
  9. Yep my brotha, it's definitely different than Portland / Vancouver. I finally saw a late 80's GL wagon today. probably an 87. First I've seen! I still think my 85 brat might be the oldest in town! And probably the only Brat! Check out the Texas group - http://ultimatesubaru.org/forum/group.php?groupid=20. Not a lot of action there, but there's a several of us.
  10. I plan on flying out from Texas. Won't have my Brat, but being at the show with no car is better than missing the show completely.
  11. Thanks, but I'm no mechanic and I don't know any here. Sounds like it would need a fair amount of work. I've been in touch with a shop that can replace the engine for me, but I need to save up the $1500 or so to get it done.
  12. Hello Texans! I'm a recently transplant for Portland, Or to Austin. Haven't seen one other Brat yet. Did see a gen 2 wagon, but other than that just some newer Outbacks and Foresters. I have an 85 Brat that is currently needing a new engine so it's grounded for the next couple of months until I can get enough saved up for a replacement EJ 22. Had the swap done recently, but ended up with a falsely advertised engine. Oh well. Such is the luck of Craigslist.
  13. I recently moved to Austin. Seen quite a few newer soobs, but only 1 other gen 2. Was a wagon. My 85 brat is the only one I've seen so far. Can't even drive it though. Needs a new engine. Damn I can't wait to get it back on the road! So far not having any luck finding a USMB member here that's a mechanic.
  14. It's going to take more than living in Austin to keep me away from WCSS!
  15. So I'm moving from Portland, OR to Austin, TX in a few days. I'm going to sorely miss Superior here in Portland. Anyone know of a good repair shop in the Austin area? Thanks!
  16. Hey Mike... There's a great chance my car won't make it. Real iffy on getting it fixed today. Still have a head gasket to fix. Any chance I could get a ride with you?
  17. I have someone coming over tomorrow to fix my gasket. If all goes well I can actually drive in the convoy Although... looks like me and Tony might be going a little later though. Still a chance we could go in the morning, but kind of looking like early afternoon.
  18. I blew my head gasket yesterday so I might just be tagging along with my brother unless I can get this fixed before the show. Not looking real good for that though.
  19. Looks like me and Tony are going to take 14 over. We're not leaving til mid afternoon. Hey Flowemastered, if you can, try to save a spot for us by ya. That worked out nice last year.
  20. I should be good any time that day, but I'm waiting for my brother, subinewby. If he can't get the day off then we'll show up in the evening. Just gonna have to wait til it gets closer to the show to figure things out. The Troutdale Chevron sounds good though.
  21. I still got yours too. I was going to head out 5-ish. Depends when Tony (subie newbie) gets off though. I figure we'll get spots where we were 2 years ago. At the far end by the eating area or whatever it is. I imagine there will be quite a few spots available Friday night since it seems to fill up more Saturday, but we'll make sure there's one for ya!
  22. No mud pit is a huge bummer. I wouldn't have been in it, but it's just so damn fun to watch!
