  1. Tronkus, did you have any luck? I'm just about to do this myself. 85 GL cluster into a 91 DL. When I go to pick up the donor cluster, I'm wondering if I grab any of the cables/plugs/looms etc? Should I grab the cluster surround with the buttons? I'm pretty sure everything is the same size. Thanks in advance if anyone can assist a bit here as I'm still struggling to find a write up. Thank you Loyale 2.7 Turbo aka Jes for the links to related posts. That gave me more information than I had found elsewhere. Now to find a write up or get out the multimeter and a swag of spare fuses (points to wagonist as his fuse sponsor) lol... Cheers, Matt
  2. How did you end up going Ronan? Very old thread I know but I'm just about to do this myself. 85 GL cluster into a 91 DL. I've learnt more here on this post than I have anywhere else in the last 3 days searching. 3. Well done 3crows! I just pulled off my carb and intake on my EA82 to get some work done and took tonnes of photos to make sure I could put it all back together properly. I only just read this thread and would have offered the photos to you. Congrats on the Weber. I too hope to do that very soon. How did you go with the adaptor plate? Any photos?
  4. Hi to all. First post here (I think). Bit of a car newbie so heads up I've had my 1991 L-Series 4WD Wagon for 11 years (think you call it a Loyale in some places?). Inherited it from my parents. Absolutely love it! 250,000km's and only issues were a water pump and a radiator which got swapped out about a year later. I've just re-registered it and gonna give it all the TLC it finally needs. It's in the process now of being pulled apart to do the belts, seals etc... Picked up a 2007 X Colombia Foz a few months ago to get around in so that will be my ride until I get the L-Series pulled apart and back together. Mum drives it too now because I broke her VY Commodore last Summer. It's back on the road now thankfully. 111,000km's on the Foz and looking forward to giving it some treats if I decide to keep it. By far the cleanest car I have ever been in. I think the previous owners were neat freaks. Though saying that, their dog chewed through everything in the cargo area so I'm slowly picking up parts to fix up the interior back there. If anyone has a bullbar or nudgebar or a towbar they're selling, please let me know. Big up to Bennie aka el_freddo for his help in guiding me through putting the dash back into my L-Series after a heater core replacement. Your a champ Bennie! I ended up encasing the whole lower part of the core in a nice thick film of JB-Weld. Unfortunately, until that stuff hardens, it still allows air pockets to move through it. I did 3 coats all up too. Alas the heater core now has a pin hole leak so I've had to stick the bypass hose back on. It's spring now so who needs a heater for another 6 months? Looks like I'll be buying a new core after all. Which means back out with the dash *sigh* Second times the charm. Okay, things happening with the L-Series. I don't have much to spend all up so it's a work in progress and trying my best to get some good prices along the way; - Timing belt inc water pump, tensioners, idler, seals (let's just say a timing kit) - Oil pump seals/spring (another kit I presume) - Drive belts inc tensioner etc (alt + aircon no power steering) - Some rust repair (maybe more than some) - Hopefully finding out why there is so much oil everywhere when I look around and under the engine - Upgrade from 13" to 14" rims if I can find some close by - Find someone to pull the bend out of the towbar. It adds character I believe but I've always wanted to see the car symmetrical one day. If anyone can think of anything else to do that I seem to be overlooking (within reason lol) then feel free to let me know Been sourcing some prices for belts & kits and it seems that they're much better priced over in the States. Even at less than the current 70cents in the AUD$. So will have to suss out the correct part numbers etc and order from there I think. Rockauto looks good. If anyone has any info on kits and codes feel free to let me know. I'll check part numbers on things as I pull them out (if they're still legible) and will post back here. If anyone knows of a real good Aussie supplier, heads up on that too please. I'll put some piccys up with this post because I think these cars look great - even stock like these ones. If your reading this Bennie, I'll happily drop an EJ in the L-Series but only if you can help me do it! Cheers, Matt
