  1. Thanks Folks, It was the relay! I had one in my parts cache. I had to work with mitchells and chilton w/d so it took me a while to make sure I was at the right relay because the wire colors weren't exactly. Like rd/bk when it was bk/rd etc. It was a real good learning experience for me as I have a much better understanding of the use of relays.
  2. I have a 86 gl-10 turbo . The old fuel pump died so I replaced it and have hooked a 12vdc power supply to pump gas to engine compartment in cup. I know that works! When I turn key and activate starter or leave it (run ) I get no fuel pump be energized. Any fuses with fuel appear to be ok. With fuel line open like there should be no pressuure shut off activated. Does the fuel pump run continuous while cruising down the road? It was working when I parted it 6 months ago. I don't think any varmits have gotten to wiring. I haven't seen the blue and white wire at fuse box. Do they split off some where else? Thanks!
  3. Remove switch from panel, disassemble master control, clean contacts with contact cleaner reassemble etc. On older ones 85-89's there are samll springsso work where you can find parts that "get away". It will pricy from daeler as they will replace swithch assembl. Good luck!
  4. I made a hook tool from a allen head bolt , that was the thread size of my slide hammmer adapter. ground off part of head so it would fit inside the wrist pin, tipped at a angle so it would catch ID of pin and go for it! Sometimes you don't ever need the hammer
  5. I assume your chassis is a none turbo? There is electric wiring to dash that's strickly for the turbo indicator. The CV shafts are different for a pre 90 model. I advise you to talk to a tech that could add to my basic comments. I have rebuilt several of both types in the past. Another idea you can get a turbo engine with +- 30K miles from dealer that import them by the transpertainer full. IMHO you would better off to buy a basket case and put one of those low mileage engine in. Good luck!
  6. Our 95 AWD sedan had a problem, I cleaned one side and that helped for a while, I eventually bought 2 new ones, they aren 't cheap at approx $90 each and haven't had any more problems. I had to fold down the back of rear seats to get at them, a spintite socket is best but open end wrench will work, just slower. Good Luck!
  7. gbhrps is right on , I took out swithch ,diasembled it very carefully, cleaned contacts put it back together . the older vintage had small spring so work where parts won't get lost etc.
  8. On the 1986 models there was no problem, just get the structs from recyler. For you now I would look at yours and another car that was conventional and decide for yourself. If you cannot have someone help you, the recyler should be that helpful!
