  1. it also didn't take into account the fact that craigslist in general is more popular in some cities than others regardless of size. boston's craigslist is the second most popular craigslist, second only to san francisco (the original)... it's even more popular than NYC's (the largest city in the country). so in those cities where craigslist isn't all that popular (such as cities that are relatively new to craigslist), there might be other sites to find used cars.
  2. i saw an older impreza on the road about a week or 2 ago... it had that 3 part grill, but the dividing parts weren't painted, they were just black plastic. maybe this isn't as different and new as people think it is... as for the clear tail lights... blech. but other than that, it's not a bad looking car... and for all you saying they tribeca-ized it... well, the grill is similar, but the ugly part about the tribeca to me is the grill not placed directly between the headlights, but slightly lower... that one change could make it look a lot nicer...
  3. the only thing about this car that i really don't like are the tail lights (i hate the clear, too ricey) and the side skirts (make that an option). the grille doesn't bother me as much as the B9 one does. it looks decent on this car. i also like the headlights, but they're similar to the 05. i'm just kind of surprised they changed the look for 05 and now they're doing a complete thing for 06... i liked the look of the 05's quite a bit... in fact, i wish i had the money to buy an 05 OBS instead of a used one when i got my car (the blue color they have for the 05's is awesome i thought)... but such is life...
  4. when they rotate tires, how do they do it? i think i saw somewhere that the front tires go to the back opposite side and the back just go straight forward. they just used ones of those rubber stick-like plugs. the tires are defnitely nowhere near new, so i think i'll be fine with this until i need new tires. i knew about that size difference thing, which is why i was glad it wasn't anything really serious and the plug worked.
  5. ok, so i had someone look at it as i drove. there was a hex head screw with washer in the front passenger side tire, but near the inside of it so it made it much harder to see by myself. i took it to a shop and had them plug the hole. so i have another question now... will the plug last the rest of the life of the tires or will i most likely need to replace the tires soon (i do plan on keeping an eye on that tire to make sure the plug doesn't leak)? the tires are the original potenzas i'm guessing (since they are potenzas) and the car has about 46-47k. about how long do the original tires last anyways? as far as i can tell, they've still got some decent tread left...
  6. so last night i came home from a concert in boston (hour drive home) and this happened when i was about half a mile from my house. i heard what sounded like a rubbing or even a flat tire coming from the front of my car (at least i think it's the front). i pulled slowly to my house (since i was right there) and looked and all tires were properly inflated. so i'm guessing something rubbing. it's not a constant, but more of a fwah fwah fwah sort of sound. since i'm at work now, i can't really go and look at it until i get out. anything in particular i should look for? i gave it a quick look at all 4 wheels and i couldn't see anything rubbing. there's no pull to one side and the sound doesn't change when i turn or brake (it faster the faster i go and slower the slower i go). i realize this could be one of a million things, but any ideas as to where i should look or what i should look for or what it might be would be great since i am driving an hour and a half tomorrow morning to CT...
  7. i love the looks of the 05 OBS. especially that blue color. btw- the link in your sig redirects me to microsoft.com
  8. no no no no... thank god it's not that, if that were the case, i would've brought that up when i bought the car... when i spin the wheel i watch it move up and down against the top of my dash. the reason for this is that it's not attached to the steering column (maybe not?) in the center of the wheel. i wasn't sure if this is just shoddy work (maybe proof that there was some sort of work done on the car), if there is something wrong with the steering column, or if this is normal.
  9. the outer wheel does go up and down when i turn it, maybe by about .5-.75 inches (could be less, i'm only estimating from what i am picturing in my head, but it's no more than .75 inches).
  10. i'm not sure if this is normal with subarus or what, but i've noticed that my steering wheel doesn't turn on its center point. when i turn the wheel all the way around, i can watch it move up and down in relation to the top of the dash. is this normal? after i noticed that i was curious if most steering wheels weren't centered when they were mounted, but my girlfriend's jetta is mounted dead center (even the VW logo in the middle of the wheel moves perfectly). i don't remember my old camry doing this either. is this something i should worry about or is it fairly common?
  11. from what i've seen... just mine and a 2001 or earlier OBS (the original one with the hood scoop... no idea on the year).
  12. check this auction on ebay... he's got a similar model year and he's parting it out. he's listed a phone number for other parts (the auction is for the headlight). he might have your trunk cover... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7982461218&category=33710
  13. i saw that... i was SHOCKED to see almost all american right across the board...
  14. you have the correct model years in your title... but note... those covers are expensive. i'd try a junkyard. i had a camry wagon that didn't come with one, so i went to the dealer to find out... $300 for a glorified window shade.
  15. i doubt the legacy has less ground clearance than your audi did... and it's still got AWD. unless you're planning on taking it off the beaten path, i don't see a need the extra clearance (although i do like that part of them... and it's funny that they got more clearance than some SUV's). from the sounds of what you wanted, the legacy seems like it might suit you better... are you looking at the wagon or the sedan (i personally think the higher clearance looks silly on the outback sedan)?
  16. the tribeca's ugly as hell... but i do like the grill on the new imprezas...
  17. i believe the outback models have tighter suspension than the regular legacy or impreza. i know that's true on my 03 outback sport (impreza model outback). have you tried the legacy 2.5gt? it's turbo and may have a softer suspension than the outback xt. any reason you prefer the outback over the regular legacy? it seems as though you want a more sporty, stylish car. i'd say the regular legacy has that going for it over the outback... as for fun to drive... i know people with the 05 2.5 gt and they love it (i think this is the first year with the turbo in it).
  18. for fuel economy (or mpg), do exactly as it says... miles per gallon... or miles/gallons. it really only works if you normally fill up an almost complete tank, otherwise, the numbers will be off. but reset your trip odometer each time you fill up. when you go back, fill up until it auto-stops (don't top it off or add more to get to an even price number). the gas pump should say how many gallons it put in. and your trip odometer should say how many miles (or km's) you've driven. just divide the number of miles (or km's) by the number of gallons and you've got your mpg (or km/g). your owner's manual should tell you how big the gas tank is and how much gas you have left when the gas light comes on.
  19. i was nice this time, they were clueless and very thankful... but next time their friends come and sit outside their house honking the horn instead of ringing the doorbell or sit out there with their god awful music (usually some form of rap) blasting and shaking my house... i might flip.
  20. i'm not sure how to completely disable it... but to stop it from beeping, unlock the driver's door with the key. that seems to stop 90% of the car alarms i've had go off on me (and the kid's across the street who had his going off for about 15 min before i got annoyed and ran out there and told him what to do).
  21. the saab isn't a wrx crossover... it's a wrx with the luxuries of a saab... as far as i know, it was designed almost entirely by subaru and then saab added their options and badges.
  22. but their mechanics must be certified. i've actually had pretty good luck with midas for my general maintenance on my old car. i moved out of state and didn't know what local, independant shops were decent, so i went with midas because i knew i'd have some form of recourse if they screwed up (i could take it up with the midas corporation or whatever). so while the owners may not have a love or interest in cars, the mechanics do know their stuff. the only thing i worry about with going there is that they'll tell me something that they are supposed to tell me because it's midas.
