  1. 1. Check the FWD override fuse found behind your passenger side strut tower mount. 2. Check the tranny ground point. Located DIRECTLY behind your 2nd resonator air intake. (2 bolts, 2 clamps, Very Easy. It's the Airbox connected DIRECTLY to the throttle body, center of compartment). Inspect ALL other grounds as well. There was a recent thread where a guy was experiencing TB issues, had a buddy look it over and found that Particular ground was loose. However, if your Chassis isn't properly grounded, regardless of whether or not the tranny ground is solid, NONE of your electrics will be properly ground. This only affects devices utilizing a - rail. 3. If all else fails, and you need to do some work, let me know. I have the FSM pages for ALL major tranny work, INCLUDING a FULL SERVICE. Lastly, did you replace the exterior tranny filter with the change? If not, I'd recommend getting the $12 Spin-on OE replacement from the dealer. Whoever changed the fluid should NOT have any problem throwing it on for free. Good luck, I'm hoping that it's something stupid.
  2. Oddly enough... The owner is not your typical "daddy's boy" ricer. This guy wants longevity. Apparently, the guy who engineers these systems will NOT do business with the "daddy's boy" crowd. I LOVE that. At any rate, he IS using the stock tranny and, ready to get sick, STOCK BLOCK!!! Well, I hate to say it SubieGal, CCR's got it's hands full to compete. I'll tell you what though. Since I'm such a nice guy, I will donate my SUS as your first test candidate. I'm sorry guys, unless you can truly understand and admire what had to be done in order to make this possible, you really can't post a 10-hour hard-on time like me. JK. At any rate, I'm going to go see just how big the thread is now. Will post #'s if they have dyno'd the full system yet. Lastly, I'm amazed and disappointed that all the info I read around here stated that a supercharger ALONE would blow your engine, and that there had only been one person to successfully do it, and that required alot of custom fabbing. For those interested, the supercharger is an AMG kit.
  3. No Numbers running the SC and Two Turbos. If you read the thread, and I recommend you do, you will find out why they are doing it this way. The big reason is that this thing produces 60 psi of flow, but to do that, only requires 20 psi boost. Since the thread is about a day old, they have not dyno'd with all three items. However, one guy posted the results from just ONE 35r with the SC and the difference between the torque curve with the SC on and OFF is just insane. On it makes 150 or 250 ft lbs of WTQ (can't remember which) at 2k RPM.
  4. I was looking through threads over at the NASIOC. I came across a thread questioning whether or not it is possible to put Twin Turbos on an STI. The response was ridiculous: Yes. Yes it can. And not only can you fit two turbos in there, but you can also throw a supercharger into the mix. If you're not a member, well, you be the judge... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=840806&highlight=twin+turbo+sti This topic is now about a day old, and seven pages deep. I'll save the lazy or less than curious the trouble.
  5. Depending on how much oil is in the crankcase, it may need to be a night for the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars Trilogies. But if you drop it a couple of quarts... "Gee formerly empathetic sales boy; I can't imagine how the engine blew. It's not like I'm a tech, but I might guess that the engine spontaneously used 2 quarts of oil on my drive home? Is that within your tolerance??? No. Well... I guess there WAS a problem with the engine after all. Boy it must've been a bad one. Anyway, make with my new ride!!! I meant NOW.
  6. A few questions real quick: How many miles on your Forrester? How long ago did you purchase? Warranty? Local Dealer? Ever do a Carfax? If so, ever, especially recently (past few years) registered in Florida or Louisiana?
  7. I thought you were trying to get AWAY from a FORD built vehicle... Good; No... GREAT Thought. NO. See your first "thought".
  8. A couple days ago, I was replacing my Vac hoses and after I got back from napa and popped the hood, I could hear a low humming noise. After I grabbed the stethoscope and listened around, I confirmed that it was the coil pack. Could this be a sign of the CP going bad? A stealership tech told me it was all or nothing with the CP. i.e. Bad Miss ALL the time, or perfectly fine. It hasn't done it since then (that I have noticed) however, I want ALL your knowledge. TIA.
  9. I hope I don't take the diagnosis in the wrong direction, but this is somewhat similar to what I heard when my Alternator was going.(Electrical Whine) Worth a pop of the hood and a listen to the alt. If not... Sorry, the MT guys will be ALOT more help than me.
  10. Now THAT sounds like road crowning... Provided air pressure is constant in all tires.
  11. No offense my good man, but is your Daughter a "Curb-Clipper". Perhaps the Son-in-law? If so, until they quit clipping medians, this will just keep happening. Perhaps the smartest thing, considering the vehicle is brand new, is to pony up the dough for lifetime alignments.($180-$280) Shop around for the best price.
  12. Doh!!! Should have noticed that the MAN had already covered this. Thanks 777. Now I just look repetitive. JK. However, is the tranny we're talking about actually a 4EAT? I thought that this characteristic was that of the 3 speed with OD. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
  13. LOL, you HAVE to love the concern. I'm not making fun of you in any way. You are ALOT like many of us. Can't stop noticing things. Luckily for you, what you are experiencing is COMPLETELY NORMAL. I would not know this if I had not been researching tranny band adjustment. For YOUR vehicle, you can NOT enter OD until you have reached operating temperature. This is completely normal, and nothing to be worried about. Enjoy your new ride.
  14. Glad to hear it wasn't actually a knock sensor. I had heard that if neglected, a bad knock sensor can result in tearing an engine apart.
  15. Well, the most violent is when I stomp it. So I'm pretty certain it's on the downshift from 3rd to 2nd. However, as I mentioned, there is a slight rise in RPM between all shifts when cold. It is less noticeable in higher gears. i.e. 3rd-4th. I think the MOST important is 2nd to 3rd. I found a REALLY detailed guide cached on google from a site no longer around. I converted it to a PDF before it was lost forever. If anyone would like a copy, let me know and I will set you up with an FTP account. Here's the current link to the cached HTML version. Before I post the adjustment link, Please note the procedure where he talks about tightening the adjustment screw, then loosening it "three turns"??? W T F? If someone could please explain, it would be greatly appreciated. http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:sILherugPtkJ:www.ravensblade-impreza.com/techdocs/pdf/transmission/band.pdf+*Adjusting+4EAT+Tranny+Bands*&hl=en&client=firefox-a More from the same: ALL you need to know about the 4EAT. If you find this usefull, Please rate. http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:LdqlodCFbFYJ:www.ravensblade-impreza.com/techdocs/pdf/transmission/4eat.pdf+*Adjusting+4EAT+Tranny+Bands*&hl=en&client=firefox-a
  16. I see you are in CO. So am I. What brokerage did you go through. Did you buy this car NEW, or did it have like 800miles and considered used?
  17. Checklist: Grounding - http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42606&page=1&pp=10 Do you hear an electrical hum coming from the area of your alternator? If so... Gone. Lastly - Battery, Battery cables, and terminals. VERY Cheap and EASY to replace the battery cables. Good luck, let us know what you find.
  18. Man!!! That HAD to be a Pre-Ford Volvo. LOL. I thought Volvo's were renowned for safety, not reliability. That being said, If I could afford a BRAND NEW vehicle, I'm certain it would go 300K with no issues. But I'm anal... REALLY anal. Organized my maintenance records, ran across two oil change receipts for the month of August. 6,500 miles in one month. Needless to say, I'm glad my girlfriend fly's planes professionally now.
  19. So I guess that it wasn't the coolant temp sensor? Doh. Sometime soon here I need to do the thermostat and then I guess it would be good to see what my timing is looking like. It was weird, the other day I noticed a low whining coming from what sounded like the coil pack. Grabbed the steth. listened, it was. I don't know if these items are related or not, but I considered replacing the coil pack a while back but talked to a tech at a stealership and he said it would have an obvious miss all the time if it were going bad. Weird. I want to know what would happen if any of the windings were shorted to the housing. I want to get to the bottom of this as I feel as though it is causing my shifting to be harder than it should. Also starting to wonder if it could be caused by tightening my throttle cable. Gonna have to do more investigating.
