  1. Thanks all. Yeah i really dont want to get into it as much as engine management or anything. Any mods i do will be simple/ cheap breather mods. NoahDL88 - You know to be honest, i actually do think im lucky to of found this car. I tell people that all the time. I guess when i started this thread i was just wondering what kind of overall acceleration i could expect. Not nessesarily taking it to the track to do runs, but i just wanted to know how it would feel overall. I spend a lot of time at the track in my other car, so when i want to know about how fast something it i just think of it as 1/4 mile time, because i know how fast 13, 14 15 sec cars feel. I really dont ever want to acttually take this to a drag strip though, or actually even run it hard on the streets. Dirt is one thing, but hard 4wd launches on pavement is absolutely horrid for the drivetrain, i really dont want to do that to this nice little subi.
  2. Thanks all. Yeah good call about pulling the covers first to be sure. Ill definetly do that. Otherwise looks like ill be pulling the engine out! Im actually exited though. Pulling my last engien was very satisfying. This subau looks like it will be a pretty easy workspace too, and i am reallly interested in pulling this little ea82t out and having a better looksy at it and really understand it and everything. I would really like to KNOW this engine. I honestly cant wait, lol. (maybe im weird, i duno) Caboobaroo - Yeah i found that write up, that thing is fantastic! Im glad there is stuff liek that for this car. critical_max - Its rootbeer!!! lol
  3. Yup. It came with 200 stock, (turbo i-4) But dont get me wrong, im not dissing the subi, i didnt buy it looking for power. Its a sweet little 4wd car, you dont need gobs of power in this thign to have a ton of fun.
  4. Haha, wow... thats interesting. I would never actually expect it to be a drag car of any sorts, but i was just curious what kind of acceleration i could look forward to with those few mods. Ill probably leave it pretty stock then, as my other car is on the verge or breaking into the 11's.
  5. Hey all. As some of you know i picked up a nice little RX on saturday. I drove it home, and now would like to take care of the oil leak. I propped the car up, cleaned off the bottom of the engine real well with engine degreaser and whatnot. Then ran it to find the leak. Sure enough it was comming from inside the timming belt cover. So, from reading around a bit, i can assume this is probably the oil pump seal, right? I still get pleanty of oil pressure, jumps up to 40-45ish when i rev. So i think all i need to do it replace the seal for now. This is something i can do while its in the car right? Do i need to remove the timming belt at all? Or can all that stay in-tact? Id really rather not touch that stuff at this point. Also, where can i go for seals? Will anywhere have them? For my toyota i always go straight to the dealer for good ol' oem stuff, but for this subi i think napa will do the trick. Does napa carry this stuff? Thanks for the help!   6. Im debating on if i want to mod my little RX at all. I want to see if its worth it. The only things i would ever do to it would be: -Air intake (cone style/ removal of box) -Open up the exhaust a bit (custom piping) -Air-air intercooler of some sort..top mount. -MBC + boost gauge set to 10psi What (estimate) woudl this run in the 1/4 mile? 15's? 14s maybe? What do these things run stock anyway? And what is the exact weight of them again? Thanks!!!

  12. Hey guys, i have a 1988 Turbo RX 2dr 4wd subi that i recently picked up, and i have a few questions, and generally want to know more about it. Here they are, please answer all and any that you can, thanks! 1) I have an oil leak somewhere on the bottom of the engine, but havnt pinpointed where its origin is yet. It seems to come out and get all over the oil pan and around that area, and drip onto the front exhaust pipe (causing it to smoke). Are there any common oil leaks found on these EA82T engines? I would first think its the oil pan gasket, or the oil pump. It seems to make oil pressure well if that makes any diff. How much usually does a replacement of either cost? And what do you think it could be? 2) How stong is the entire tranny/axles/diff setup? I want to be very gentle with this car right now, but one day i might like to play in the dirt a little. How stong can everything stand up with a little beating on it in the dirt? Are there any weak points on the entire car? 3) Is there any huge online info source for this car? I really cant find out much info about it. Id like to know its weight/dimensions, and stuff like that. 4) How easy is it to upgrade the wheels? Or does it have a crazy lug pattern that i will never find a regular aftermarket wheel for. I would like to find a nice little set of gold racing rims or something for this that are like 15"'s or 16"'s. 5) Are there any online performace shops for this car? Or any source to get readily availible parts from. 6) How much boost can this engine take if i were to turn up the boost a smidge. I think the most i woudl EVER do to this car is add an extra air-to-air intercooler from one of my other turbo cars (mr2 turbo that makes 335 rwhp), open the exhaust up a bit, and maybe turn the boost up a little. But how much is the engine/stock ecu/fuel good for on the stock turbo? 10 psi maybe? Im sure at that rate it would be all out of efficiency at like 4500 rpm, lol. 7) My rear right (pass side) suspension components are making a light clunking noise on bumps. The setup is not blown by any means, but i still hear a squeak/light clunk. What could this be? Again anything common maybe? Alright i think thats it for now. Please help if you can.
