  1. I don't know how to tell you guys. Just two weeks ago, my Fuel Injector #3 went bad. Thanks to ColoroSubie, he sent me two FIs! For some reason, he knew one of my other FIs would be going out as well! True to his superb future telling mind, my other Fuel Injector went out yesterday while I was driving in Mason City, Iowa. I was cruising highway 18 heading West, about ten miles to Mason City, my vehicle began to shake and the Check Engine came on. I was so afraid it was something else and I would have to walk the highway for miles/hours to get help.

Fortunately, it was shaking alot and lost a little juice, but I was able to reach the city before stopping by a gas station to check it out. I suspected it was another FI and true to my suspicion, it was! It was FI #1 this time. No worry, I told myself. I was able to drive home and this morning, I replaced the dead FI and everything is fine again.

The Check Engine light still remains even though I disconnected the battery cable for ten minutes. Not sure if there is something else went bad after that long drive home (about 150 miles).

Just couple questions: Do they go out one after another in short time like that or was it just a rare case in my situation? I hope my other two FIs won't go out within the next four weeks! That will be something!!! Then I have to call ColoraSubie again for his remaining two FIs! You hear me, ColoraSubie? I may need your help again...

  2. I'm in the same boat with you. Sometimes the door (especially the driver door)will lock itself and if I don't have the key with me, I'm locked out. Sometimes when an open is attempted to open the front passenger door, the handle will trigger the lever to lock itself and unless there is a person inside to hold the lever mechanism, you can't open the door at all. I never bother to do anything about it knowing it's getting old.

  3. Generally, how does the whole ABS system work? If one sensor goes bad, will the whole system be disabled/inoperative? My situation is that my ABS went bad (Light came on) about 8 months ago. It's a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.3L with ABS w/o Traction Control. (I know this is off topic but hey, I own a '91 Leggie so don't kill me!) I had it diagnosed at a dealer and they said it was the ABS Computer. I bought a used one to replace the 'said' bad one yet the light remains ON all this time. They then went on to say that it's now a bad wire somewhere and it requires extensive diagnose, which I can't afford. I'm trying to do this on my own but running against a dead wall. Can someone please help?

To make matter worse, since this mini-van has a couple other problems besides the one above, my Wify wants to get rid of it but since I don't have good credit, I'm relying on my older brother to sign to finane a new mini-van for me and since we still owe more than the vehicle's worth, my payment goes way to $605.00 a month so I backed out from the deal and then my Wify and I had a big fight yesterday and we tossed basically any thinkable things at each other. Went as far as even mentioning divorce and etc...etc... Sorry to bring my personal problem here but I'm really looking for some help to stabilize my situation now and fixing the van may not necessary mean the end of it but at least it's a start.

My Wify is one of those women that when nice, she's nicer than an angel but when bad, she is worse than the devil. But since we have five children together, I'm pretty stuck here as I don't want my children to suffer. If you know what I mean here.

Thanks in advance and hopefully nobody else has to go through what I/we go through.

    Chill...

  4. Got the fuel injector thanks to ColoSubie. One question, though. The old/dead injector has this long nose in the middle at the end whereas the new one doesn't have it. I attempted to pull out this nose, but it didn't bulge. So I just went ahead thinking the new injector may not need this nose. After installing it the car seems to run fine so I hope it's just different because they were made by different company. Someone please tell me if I'm not correct.

ColoSubie told me they are different so I'm hoping this is it.

    Thanks ColoSubie!

  5. I heard this morning that the eye of the storm is going to hit St. Lucie county. I am taking no chances. We are boarding up tonight and leaving thursday. My wife and I like Macon, GA (cause we are rednecks) so we are going to hightail it there or Atlanta.

Hope everyone gets through this unharmed.

Sorry to hear that you'll have to get out of town because of the hurricane. Hope everything will be fine.

  6. ...open my own shop that only works on Subarus...it probably wouldn't pay as much as Working for the IT consultant firm.....

I say if you can invest to start the shop, it would pay much more than your IT consultant once you get the shop going. Hey, if I lived down there, I don't mind working for you! That is, if you hire me first...hehehehe...lol. Although I know enough to start, I do not have an ASE so it may not do much good in my case.

  7. I just Buy It Now (ed) at Ebay. Also, I just sent you my address to your email address. Can't wait to receive it and put it on and hope to get back on the road.

Anyway, on to another subject. I may or may not need to replace my tranny. It was acting very tender lately. I don't know how to describe it any other way other than it being 'tender' when you drive it when cold. I was having problem with the TCU earlier as it wouldn't shift from first to second gear until the engine RPM reached 4000+. I bought a used TCU at the junk back in May and am driving it, but now it starts to act very tender. Don't know what's going on. Probably the tranny is really giving up or something.

  8. Tell you what...I have 161 positive feedbacks and I will put the auction up tonight, send you a link, use the buy-it-now, and I will ship the item to you. When you can afford to pay me....do so. I know what it's like to be broke as F##K. I have 2 kids but the lord blessed me with ,my dream job as an IT consultant so my broke days are behind me. Your best days are ahead of you.

Shoot me an e-mail so I can send you the auction link

    coloradosubarules@yahoo.com

You are just too nice and kind, friend. I will email you right now. I'm speechless with your kindness. What more can I say?

  9. Think it over if you want trhen shoot me an e-mail if you want it and I will put the auction on and then send you a link to the auction. I will priority ship the item to you and then wait for payment. I like to think I am a trusting person. A friend in need is a friend indeed.

    Hope this helps

Yes you can drive the vehicle with the bad injector but I wouldn't reccomend it.

Thanks, I like to call myself a very trustful(ty) person, too. Also, I do have Ebay account, too, if we were to go that route, it wouldn't be a problem at all. BTW, I got 22 Positive feedbacks as I'm not doing too much Ebaying.

Regarding driving with the bad injector, I hesitated since I felt like the engine is really rough so I was afraid I might damage some internal parts, which would make it a pain in my neck to fix as I'm almost completely broke at the moment.

  10. Thanks, but what about the timing cover? The bolts do not want to come out. Should I drill them out? Use force? I am not worried about getting the cover back on because I am like McGyver when it comes to installing stuff.

If I can see the timing cover now, I may recall what I did to loosen it. As of now, it's too dark out there so I don't remember how I got mine off when I changed my timing belt.

  11. That's great. The only problem is I need it as soon as I can get it. Is it possible that you ship it overnight? I can send you payment once I receive the item or we can do cross shipment. I can provide you with my mailing address, phone # (both work and home) just in case you don't trust me. I've heard terrifying stories and so I want to make sure we are on a smooth transaction.

And you sure it will work on my 91 Leggie? Auto non-Turbo?

  12. So, it's the front oil seal of the main camshaft (or crankshaft I'm not good with parts name), I assume? I replaced mine awhile back. It's not too hard. Use socket 22 and breaker bar to unbolt the big pulley bolt in the front. The easiest way to do this is to insert the socket, secure the breaker bar to the chassis so it won't fly or move, then crank your engine in spurt of 1/4 second. (Make sure you are NOT starting your engine!) Make sure your breaker bar is lined against a hard and unmovable object so it can't damage your chassis or other parts. Once you start cranking your engine, it will loosen the bolt and once it's loosed enough, you can proceed to the rest of the job.
