October 1, 200916 yr I just got a 86 GL-10 wgn 4x4 EA82T and when I got a new rotor that fit it turned out to be the one for a non-turbo ea82. The installed distributor has a screw in cap and push on rotor and a vacuum advance with 1 hose. Is this the right one for the car or has it been swapped If swapped how would performance be affected by having the wrong distributor installed (engine currently misses badly once passed 3500 rpm)?
October 1, 200916 yr '86 and earlier had a mechanical/vacuum advance distributor (and flapper door MAF, etc). It wasn't till '87 ('86 for SPFI) that the CAS distributor's showed up along with the faster/more complex ECU that can handle the ignition timing. They also switched to hot-wire MAF's. GD
October 1, 200916 yr Author Thanks for the fast reply, so how can I tell if I have the right one, ie how many vacuum lines should it have? Also there is an un-connected 2 wire connector hanging off the distributor, do you know where this might go?

Hi, the factory parts book i have says your dist should be # 22100 AA221 for turbo 86 , and vac unit #22301 AA110 , ECM # 22611 AA033 these are 86 only according to what i have to go by, 87 shows different .
October 1, 200916 yr The stock EA82T distributor for 86 should have 4 wires. 2 of them go to the coil. The other 2, run towards the passenger side, where the knock sensor wires join the harness. Then there is a round connector with 8 wirtes. Harness continues on over the passenger strut tower and into the cab to the Knock control unit(located behind glovebox) The disty wiring and and the knock wiring are all toghether from that round plug on to the disty. Here is where all the wires on the disty harness go: Black/white stripe wire with eye connector goes to coil POS(+) Yellow wire to Coil NEG(-) Black/yellow stripe is a check connector, leave it unhooked. Black/red stripe wire straight out of disty to round plug. Leads to the timing signal output from the control unit. Black wire to engine ground Green wire and Red wire are for the knock sensor.

I don't have a picture but the cap is screwed on and the rotor has one very small screw holding it down
