October 5, 200916 yr Anyone know if theres a company that makes Drilled/Slotted Rotors for the EA82? I'm thinking next spring to change out mine since they have a slight worp in them and are starting to crumble. Is there such a thing as an upgraded rotor thats a direct fit? Also, looking for low brake dust/ low espestos pads and shoes aswell. I know they make them, just dunno what brands do. Casue I'm getting tired of all this excesive dust. Thanks for any pointers! -Tom Edited October 5, 200916 yr by TheLoyale
October 5, 200916 yr drilled rotors will eat pads quicker and yield more brake dust. These aren't performance cars, so there are very few performance options. Best bet is a quality set of OE style brakes.

Best bet is a quality set of OE style brakes. Oh it does! I suppose it makes sence. I just figured it would incress stopping power (But its not a performance vehicle, like you said) Wonder how much genuine rotors are? As for pads/shoes, is there any low dust types for these cars? -Tom
October 5, 200916 yr I got rotors a few years back from advance or orielys, and they weren't expensive at all. They are holding up just fine. As far as pads go, I have always gone with the ones that fall in the middle as far as price. The cheap ones go quick, and the expensive ones are, well, expensive, and these aren't race cars. As far as break dust goes, paint your wheels flat black, it hides the dust better.
October 5, 200916 yr Like the man said, there's not much of anything "performance" about or available for an EA82 Subaru. One thing that will help stopping power is to replace the rear drum brakes with disc brakes if you haven't already done so. You won't notice much difference during normal brakeing, but under hard brakeing the rear wheels won't lock up nearly as easily with the discs and thus you'll have better stops without the rear wheels sliding. Here's the link to that conversion http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=49975 I've had good success with non-metalic or "organic" pads. They seem to create less dust that metalics and don't wear out rotors as fast. I think there are ceramic pads available for the front, but I haven't tried them (yet).
October 6, 200916 yr Author Mudduck, Yes that true lol. just wanted to see if there was anything, I'll check around at prices and such As for painting the pugs black, I had them powdercoated white for a reason Lol, be kinda a waste of $300 don't you think? Hehe. I understand you arn't aware of them being white (Just razzing thats all) :-p TF, Yes thats what we have on the Blazer Ceramic pads. I want to see if they have those or these organic ones you speak of (Next time I do brakes, next spring sometime) Thanks for the input guys, answered my questions fairly well -Tom
October 6, 200916 yr I installed some cheap $13 rotors from AutoZone and I warped them in about a month. Since then I put on some Brembo rotors and they have been just fine. I use a carbon-kevlar composite brake pad.
