98 obw code and no speedo

Featured Replies

i just put a 2.2 into this car runs fine but got a code 1507 and also the speedo isnt working? any ideas

P1507 Idle Control System Malfunction

Speedos on these cars are know for failure. Remove the dash, remove the 4 screws holding the speedo in and clean them one at a time and reinstall.

The screws are the electrical connection between the board and the speedo.

Recheck all of the plugs and hoses for the 1507. You might also want to clean the IAC.

when i did my swap i removed the IAC from the side of the throttle body for better access to the flex plate bolts. thankfully i marked it before i removed it, so i got it back in the same position afterwards.

it is also hesitating and dying when braking i believe the motor came from an auto any help please

Is the speedo fixed? The ECU does use a speed input as well.

Your car is a manual?

You may want to try putting the IAC from the old engine on the new one. Did you get the hoses all routed and the purge canister mounted in the engine compartment and its lines hooked up?

Sounds like you may still have a vacuum problem.

right i'll check more, its a 5 spd thanks for the info hopefully that works .haven't had time to check speedo yet to busy with shop construction

Try cleaning the IAC, if the replacement engine sat around, it could have been gunked up and stuck.

For the speedo, be sure you plugged all the wires on the top of the trans case behind the engine back in.

Spedo is NOT known for problems in this year car, that is the 1999's.

Stalling can be caused by the either of the issues you have. Test the VSS to make sure that it is functioining and that the wiring has not gotten damaged.

Celan the IAC and see if that helps. Make sure the IAC is functioning.
