2000 and 2002 Outback Question

Featured Replies

I have a 2000 and a 2002 outback wagon. On my 2002 , when I shift from park to drive, I have indication via the dash and my shift indicator between the front seats also light up to display which gear I am in.

On the 2000, I get gear indication at the dash but not at the shift between the front seats. Is the shift light just burned out or did it never light up? If it is burned out, how easy is it to replace?

Thanks in advance

Most likely burned out. I havent done one of these but the are jigsaw puzzles. Usually start to take them apart at at the storage bin and work your way forward.

Hmm, now you got me thinking. My wife drives a 2003 Impreza Outback with the gear indicator on the dash too. I've never noticed or thought about whether there was supposed to be a light at the gear shift itself too. I'll have to take a peek sometime. My 2010 Forester has a digital gear display on the dash and in the gear shifter area as well.

I have an '00obw and it does have back illumination in the gear shift area, but I never realized it because it was always dark. One day I was messing around and hit the shift area and it lit up. So maybe there is somethign with the bulb not making a good connection as a pattern in these things (or maybe burned out).
