November 15, 200916 yr Well its a 99 Forester. And It got in a roll over. It all fixed body wise, but it has one glaring issue. The tail lights stay on when the cars off. And the dash backlighting will flash every 20 seconds or so and you hear an audible click. Im not sure where to start, I thought this could possibly be some kind of message so I thougth id try you guys!
November 15, 200916 yr The tail lights could be the switch on top of the column. The relay sound and flashing lights sound the either the remote lock or alarm controller are not working correctly.
November 16, 200916 yr the tailight always on could be a depressed brake pedal switch for the stop lights (if the car was rolled over, i could see that switch breaking or dislodging). the rocker switch on the top of the steering column should light front parking lights too. If you have front marker lights and tailights on, its the column switch, just tails on, more likely the pedal switch.
November 16, 200916 yr Author well the brake lights go on and off with the pedal, its the actual dim tailights, but no front lights on either.....blinkers work fine. Can i disable the factory alarm somehow, or am i just looking for a pinched wire? There is the security module located on these?
November 16, 200916 yr Dim lights could be a bad ground then. The module is under the dash by the colum on the outside towards the kick panel. Turn on the key and feel/listen for the click.
