ericem
Hey guys need to drop this motor in ASAP like hopefully this friday! Want to get the few oil leaks sorted out. I will be replacing valve covers seals, rear cam support gaskets, and oil drain hose, TD04 turbo etc. All hoses seem nice and soft! Water pump and belt and idlers appear to be new for a EJ22T out of a 92 legacy wagon. Oil pump leak...
GeneralDisorder
Looks like the front main seal to me... which is in the oil pump housing so you might want to just pull the pump off and reseal the whole thing. GD
ericem
ok, doesn't seem like its leaking any other seals that I can replace on the pump? I am thinking ill order the main seal, there is one between the block on the pump, and how about those oil plugs that are all wet with oil must be o rings in there, and the part aiming at a 45? Then RTV seal it back in place I guess?
idosubaru
3 things: Crank seal - oil pump to block oring - and sealant between the pump and block Also check all the backing plate screws when you pull the pump. Any that are loose, put locktite on them and reinstall. That's just leaking oil running down the face of the pump, not any additional oring or anything unless someone previously goofed with it or something. If the timing belt has oil on it, replace it. Oil degrades belts and causes them to break. In my case it didn't even last a few months/10,000 miles when a friends car leaked at the crank seal and got the belt wet.
