Featured Replies

HI all .

im starting a subaru parts buisness and while a buisness is there to make money. my main goal is to sell oem and quality parts for close to cost. i think its stupid that if you want an OEM clutch cover (pressur plate) for a subaru gl Turbo you have to pay 138.25 when the cost is aroun 50 bucks. thats a big mark up. anyway there are several things i have to do these are them

get the webpage up and going.

find out what products you want.

and then start.

so here is the question what products would you want me to stock please let me know wheather you want oem or genaric and what it fits

example

anyway thanks for looking please let me know what you think

Not to be a skeptic, but you’re going to have to define “OE” and “Quality” parts.

When I was looking for parts to do a Legacy bearing replacement, a lot of sites claimed to be OE but in fact were not. In addition, parts counterfeiting is rampant with a lot of major brands.

For this reason, I decided to go with an internet “genuine Subaru” parts seller. It was 1stsubaruparts. If you can offer parts of this quality level, I wish you the best of luck and might consider a purchase.

If you plan on offering Chinese knock-offs, it may be a tough sell

I agree, there is a lot of mark-up in parts. My brother-in-law used to work for a brake manufactuer. The USA made rotors you pay $100 for cost about $10 to make. To be successful, you'll need to offer real quality at a fair price and back up your products.

My OEM parts will be OEM ie. subaru parts in subaru bags with subaru part numbers. brand new and NOT NOS. as for quality aftermarket parts ill be very picky as to what i sell. there are lots of places selling crap and i plan on NOT being one of them

so what you do you newer generation people want.??

headlights

tbelt kits with everything(cam seals, cam oring, crank seal, waterpump seal.)????

i decided to start this buisness to help all the guys with older subarus but as my supplyer has the newer stuff i thought some of you might like to get in on the deal.

thanks

brian

Routine maintenance parts like:

oil filters

water pumps

engine seals (cam seal, o rings etc)

thermostats

oil pumps

Best of luck with yorur store! Im very interested in making a purchase.

BTW be sure to post the web adress of your store.

My answer won't be what you expect but;

1. I want to call and get an answer - not an answering machine.

2. I don't want to increase your profit margin by overpaying for 'shipping and handling'.

3. I don't expect you to be perfect, but own up to mistakes and fix them so well I brag about it to my friends.

4. I want knowledgable assistance with my purchase but don't want to be wheedled into something because you make more money with it than another item.

5. I don't want to hear "You'll need to contact XXXX to get warranty service - it's not my problem now - I just sell 'em"

6. If I use a CC for purchase, it'd be nice if your company's name actually shows up on the statement instead of me trying to figure why someplace called 'Mumble dogface at the Banana patch' got $462.97 from me.

7. Superior packaging - I mean, stuff can't bang into other stuff in the box and is an inch or more away from the inside surface of the box. NO PEANUTS!

8. Clear, easy, return procedure.

If I think of any more I'll get back to ya!

um.. sorry, but it seems you are misinformed.

GL turbo Pressure plate is $95

and dealer cost is OVER $50 FYI

I know, i work in the parts department at a very large Subaru Dealership (#1 in the Nation in Fixed Operations!!!)

Discount OE Factory dealerships are out there.

With Websites and everything... (http://www.allsubaru.com, http://www.subaruwrxparts.com to name a couple)

These are real dealerships with access to Real Genuine Subaru parts, and they offer discounted prices.

These parts carry a full Subaru Factory Parts Warranty

can you provide that?

It's a good idea, but there are legitimate dealerships

and sources out there.

Not everyone is trying to "get rich" of selling parts :)

It's a business, yes there will be a mark up of some kind,

but there are stores out there that offer 20%-25% off LIST price.

LIST = Wholesale. You can buy the parts cheaper than the body shops and other wholesalers... pretty tough to beat that.

well, that's my $.02 and change :D

Subie Gal brings up some good points. You should consider them Brian. I have purchased some things through her and would definately buy again from her when the need arises. The prices I got were way better than the local dealer prices and service was great. Thanks again Jamie.

There may be room out there for another site like you want to do but it could require more of your time than you want to deal with, and how much is that worth to you. I don't mean to discourage you but just wanted give another viewpoint. If you have'nt checked out the real competition like the site Subie Gal gave, you should. It just seems to me that most of these good places have a lot of money backing them and it would be hard for a little guy to make it without a lot of volume. I could be wrong though.

I like everything you guys have said Texan brings up very good point on customer service.

Jami are we talking about the same part? im talking about 30210AA020

let me know im interested now.

as for the service. it would be mostly online.

i will not be offering some products for the newer subaru i will be sticking to mostly the things you use all the time

oil filters

air filters

PCV Valves.

Cam seals

crank seals .ETC.

AS for what i can do with pricing and % off dealer price i just sent somone on the board. a quote for 5 items for an ea82 car here is the brake down.

Here is the catch.. THIS IS THE SHIPPED PRICE yup all shipping included in these prices.

CAM SEAL KIT (1 Side) 806738040 (Dealer list 9.66) (MP5.50)43.06% below dealer

GASKET-INT MANIF 14035AA160 (DL 8.57) (MP5.95)

30.57 %Below Dealer

GASKET-INT MANIF 14035AA150 (DL4.25) (MP3.25)

23.53%Below dealer

GASKET T INLET 44022GA207 (DL15.80) (MP10.00)

36.71% Beloww dealer

GASKET T OUTLET 44022GA217 (DL10.43) (MP8.51)

18.41% Below dealer

TOTAL % OFF dealer prices 30.46%

Jamie let me know how these prices match up with what your dealer sells all this info is as per my dealer here in BZN

Carl brings up some great points. I'd even pay more than other places IF the service was superior. I'ts like paying a little more at the local hardware store because the guy explains what you need, finds it, tells you how to install it, and points out any pitfalls of a home repair job vs talking to the kid at the big box store that says if you don't see it on the shelf, they must not have it.

Once again good luck and don't forget wheel bearings, visors, and fuel senders.
