coolant leak on Turbo

Featured Replies

My 86 Turbowagon is passing coolant externally on thr turbo, and possibly internally. Is there a reasonable fix for this or do I drop in a bottle of Bars leak?

i'd try the bars but more than likely your looking at gasket time because the bars won't last that long if it work's at all

Which gasket do you mean?It looks like there is one between the water jacket(?)or what would be the bearing housing on a normal turbo and the exh. turbine housing.Im guessing its leaking there by the white residue under it on the base of the turbo. Are these readily available from subaru or elsewhere or could I make one?

can you see where the coolant is coming from? my rx was leaking for a while but it turned out to be on of the turbo coolant lines had a pinhole in it and was spraying out and making it appear to be coming from the turbo itself.

There is a coolant line under the turbo that is a common leaker.. they will range from little pinholes to spouting geysers of explosively hot coolant.. most people replace it with a silicone line
