What size wrench to adjust front bolts?

Featured Replies

For those of you that have EA81 vehicles where you can raise and lower the front height, what size wrench does it take? I tried a 20mm and it doesn't fit...I then tried a 21mm and it has a little play. I'm assuming that since its a Japanese vehicle, that it uses metric sizes.

straight from the Owners Manual

(Quote) The vehicle posture adjustment requires the wrench not supplied with the vehicle. If you do not have the wrench or mechanical ability, it is recommended that you consultyour authorized subaru dealer (UnQuote)

(Quote) CAUTION: The ground clearances can be also adjusted to the maximum adjustable heights when driving conditions warrant. However, if the ground clearances are out of specified ranges, noise excessive wear of tires, poor fuel economy during highway driving or uncomfortable ride may result. Make sure that the ground clearances are readjusted to the specifed ranges when resuming normal driving conditions or rapid tire wear will result. (unQuote)

You got a tool kit when you bought a subaru brand new back then. plyers, lug wrench, spanner, screw driver flat head and philips reversiable. 12mm wrench 10mm wrench

i use a adjustable wrench or a 13/16 i think to break them free that and its best if you heat them up first they will turn much easier if you do that and soak them down with pb blast

Way to go Hassey.. a nice long post without a single portion addressing the question asked..

I found that a 21mm worked well on my adjustables, but being EA82, they might be a touch different.

Thanks guys for the replies. Caleb, on my 84 GL wagon, I started stripping the bolt with a 21mm brand new wrench. I remember using the 21mm on my 82 Brat and it worked fine. I'll try the 13/16 and see if that is a tighter fit.

I'm betting the dealer wouldn't have a clue what you even meant by asking about raising the front suspension. If you walked around the place and took a poll, 9 out of ten people there would answer with a blank look.

21 mm is the one. A 19 will raise the rear.

The fact is that if you re-read the post i did anwser th question not with the size of wrench but the fact that the posture adjustment real aren't meant to be adjusted either rookie or mechanic.

the vehcials are meant and desighned to have the wedge look for a reason.

Even with my 6" lift the posture remains the same
