snorkel for my Ea81?

Featured Replies

Im trying to fit a snorkel to my ea81 toy.I got a EA82 FI air intake horn.that fit, but I had to cut down an old radiator hose I had around to make a sleeve inside it so it would tighten up to the carb.Go to close the hood and it doesn't quite fit.I'm sure I could make it fit by cutting the hood, but I would rather not because its a straight hood from pull and save.Ive heard of using an S10 airbox but that seems to just bolt to a weber.

anybody have any idea of what I could use to connect a tube to the carb and still fit under the under the hood? Engine is in stock height relative to the body because I didn't space it down.

also I plan to pass the snorkel tubing through the firewall and up through the cowl on the passenger side. What is a good way to cut that hole?It looks a bit too curvy to use a hole saw on.torch is an option(at least through the firewall..)

thanks in advance

Note:must be able to hook vacuum lines and PCV lines to snorkel intake..

A snorkel for an e81 is kinda useless. The disty will be under water long before the air intake.

I have the disty kinda waterproofed...I suppose I will just route the airfilter to where the spare tire used to sit..I was just kinda worried with the factory airbox inlet being so close to the front.

If you've still got that big old blue thing that screws to the top of the carb, you can just tie a red rag over the end of it. That will act as a snorkel once. If you get it wet, just rotate it. Really, it's all you need.

Yes, there is a way to attach a hose. Go outside, look under your hood, then drive down to the hardware store, and use your imagination - pvc pipe, dryer ducting, shop vac hose, aluminum tube, just about anything will work.

That, or stop being so lazy, and find a way around the water rather than driving through it.

AND ************ING SEARCH>>>>HOW MANY ************ING SNORKEL THREADS ARE THERE?

i found about 25......alot with pics.about 3 from you.......including this one.

Sorry about the clarity issue. I was wondering how to attach a ROUND hose and hose clamp to a SQUARE intake horn. a hose clamp will not seal it up properly because its round and it wont conform to the intake horn that well.

unless you are thinking seal off the intake horn and use the round port on the bottom (that ran hot air from the manifolds into the intake air)

use your head. silicone or rtv will turn square into round. or find some plastic intake pieces off an EA82 and silicone it.
