Hello, So i own a 01 Impreza 2.5rs that i need an engine for and was wondering what models can i get one from that will bolt right up. I have access to an 01 legacy engine now that is an 2.5l manual like will this fit?

00-01 2.5RS engines are the same. The 99 RS/Forester is the same except for the 99 has MAF where as the 00-01 is MAP sensor based.

it's my impression that any SOHC EJ25 will work just fine. retain your intake manifold.

Not sure of the cut off, but at the very least up to 2003 is fine.

Also check the crank timing gear and drivers side cam pulley to make sure they're the same. There are two syles.
