I found a RHD legacy on CL for cheap, blown headgasket. I am shopping for a legacy and the price is attractive on this one. It just happens to be RHD, not that i am looking for RHD specifically.

 

How desirable is RHD if i were to sell the car after fixing it?

I still see a lot of them being used for rural mail routes. Be even cooler if you put a 5 speed in it.

Somewhat desireable for a rural postal carrier. Otherwise unless it's pretty nice and you can find someone interested in doing a JDM twin-turbo swap or something..... not all that desireable. As a "car" it's got a limited audience as most people just looking for something to drive will not want the oddball RHD postal legacy.

 

I would likely pass on it myself - I buy to fix/resell though so it wouldn't make any sense for me. If you just want it for transportation and are willing to wait for a postal carrier to buy it off you then by all means. If you find the right person at the right time it could be an easy sell for a decent profit as postal Jeep's are expensive and hard to come by for the rural carriers - thus the reason Subaru made the RHD Legacy's for the US market in the first place.

I would fix it for myself and drive it, and sell it later when i decide to get into something else.

 

What i have learned about flipping cars is, no one knows how to drive stick. this car being an automatic would be easier to sell to the same people asking me to find them a car.

 

I do have the option of posting it for sale out of state in rural areas, since i travel often and have family in rural areas where the post man sits on the wrong side of his chevy lumina with bench seats. Also a lot of rural newspaper carriers, i used to do the work myself, maybe i can do it again. or maybe not:grin:

i don't know what they sell for but it seems to me that the asking price for RHD legos is way higher than LHD legos of equal miles and years. i'd like to try one for fun, but i don't know how i would feel driving "close to the edge" on a mountain road.

 

usually the postal cars tend to have trans trouble, i think.

going to look at it with cash in hand, i'll take it for 1000 or less. owner had it from 25,000 miles with regular oil change, but no other service. sounds like an office type(with accent) who is just a commuter driver, i'll have to nit-pick and show the money.
