i've only driven it twice (had it only a month) but everytime i drive it the oil pressure redlines and i cant figure out why. i wont drive it like that for fear of ruining anything. any guesses?

If the wire to the sending unit on the oil pump is broken and grouned anywhere it will peg the gauge out.

In any case it's probably a faulty gauge or sending unit. Check the actual pressure with a mechanical gauge - any 0 to 100 psi gauge ought to be sufficient.

A chance the previous owner installed the wrong oil pressure sensor. One works with the light and the other with the gauge. They don't interchange.

Check for a short in the wire leading to the sensor in front of the engine. The sensor is right below the crank pulley.
