legacy to loyale susp. swap?

Featured Replies

so here we go, i, like so many others desire to lift my loyale cheaply and with scrapyard parts, ive heard rumors that forrester struts bolt right in. while this appears to be true the spindles are different. a 5-lug conv. may be in order. any help would be sweet

When I read the title I was like "Retrofitting Loyale suspension to a Legacy? What the hell??"

did i say legacy? i meant forrester to loyale. as lifts are cheap i know i should do it right but raising a subaru and a daughter is tough on 10 bucks an hour. so no go on the rumors then? my last trip to the junkyard revealed that the bolts will fit in to the towers on the loyale. custom halfshafts to go to 5 lug?:-\

i suggest instead of jumping around the board asking a bunch of questions that have been answered several times, to search.and read.i bet it would help alot.

5-lug swaps are possible. But, as I said, lifts are possible and cheap already. if you're going for an offroad look, lift it as-is, and re-drill the hubs to 6-lug for wheel selection.

to clarify, what year/model of subaru are you trying to lift?

if it's a loyale/GL/DL- than you should skip trying to make the legacy/forester/outback struts work (unless you DO the 5-lug swap, but that's even harder than just lifting AND usually in the long run, more expensive too)

4wd GL wagons seemed to have the tallest struts out of the bunch? (or maybe it was a certain year/ had adjustable one's for the rear too...)

another way to get some lift- bigger tires. If you have an EA car, just trim the fenders a little, and you can fit 27's in there pretty easily without a lift or funky adjusted struts...
