Almost EJ swap time

Featured Replies

I have an ej25 with all accs., entire car harness and exhaust sitting waiting at my buddies shop. I am going to be trading him for some work on his rally car. Most likely go with the tried and true SJR adapter plate and clutch set up.

I'm hoping to hear from a few of you guys who are already swapped. I guess what I'm asking is how do you like it, if you were to do it over again what would you have done different? I went out wheelin today and the only thing holding me back from the Jeep guys was running out of power mid hill. I would imagine with almost double hp and tq the ej25 will have I should do a bit better?

Just trying to get my ducks in a row and start to gather the necessary components for the swap. Please post up anything about swaps anyone wants to. I will continue to search through other thread and builds.

Thanks

Kyle

I haven't done it yet, but just make sure you change the headgaskets in that EJ25 before you drop it in!!

Yeah I'm thinking HG's and timing belt stuff. Donor motor has 100k.

Doing it over again/differently usually means "wishing I'd done it sooner" or having done a cleaner job.. something I doubt applies to you.

x2 for EJ25 head gaskets.

I did a EJ22 into my lifted wagon.

I'm sad I did it after my wheeling phase, cause the power is awesome.

I dream of upgrading to a EJ25... in due time.

EJ + FWD + Wet pavement = Suck.

Because its my daily, or half daily, I swapped in a FT4WD RX box to battle this problem. Much nicer driving car, and still goes OK offroad too!

You'll have to be mighty gentle with that EA box if you want it to last - if you are still going to run the EA box that is.

Good luck :)

I will most definetly be keeping the D/R trans  I have a guy that rebuilds our rally boxes and will eventually have him take a look at the trans. He has a few tricks up his sleeve and if they will work on the EA box I will let everyone know.
