88 subaru gl

Featured Replies

i have a 1988 Subaru gl and i replaced the timing belts earlier and now it turns over fine and dandy but it will not start. i did a full tune up on it. cap, rotor, wires, plugs, oil...etc. a buddy of mine told me it was the stop lamp switch prevent it from starting but I'm not sure. any ideas!!!!

If it ran before you chnaged the belts and doesnt run now, there is only one possible conclusion:

the timing belt is not set properly.

And back away from the madman who said it is your stoplight. Back away very slowly as any sudden moves can set off a crazy person.

+1 nipper, I had the same issue(91 loyale spfi). then I read the instructions again. when you set the first timing belt you have to rotate the motor 360 degrees before you can set the second one.

good luck dude
