A couple carpet questions 98 OBW

Featured Replies

So I've been looking to replace carpet on the cheap. Would've been $50 at a local junk yard, but there is a bit of a hornet problem.

Has anyone ever pulled one out? Just wondering if it absolutely has to be molded, or if I could just buy some carpet at HomeDepot and cut to fit the car.

Or if anyone is parting a car with a good grey to black carpet and wouldn't mind shipping, would be most grateful.

I definately wouldnt do the Home Depot deal. Thats just going to turn out very bad. You want to stay with a molded carpet kit. Try looking around at JC Whitney for a budget price carpet kit and also call around your local auto upholstery shops. Sometimes they even have good deal or may even have a used set of carpets laying around in back.

Many options to check out.

I would go the "salvage yard" route (it's not junk) if I were you. Buy LOTS of bug killer. JC Witney, a good 2nd choice.

thanks! Guess I'll be off to a hardware store for some bug spray.

Junk yard is the way to go... carb cleaner or brakeparts cleaner are the best. We used to get bees in the VWs behind the shop. I realized brake parts cleaner melts their wings... cruel but lowers the odds of being stung.

There is a small carpet steam cleaner for pets accidents...These things can revive some pretty messed up interiors.....worth the $.

$10 at the local you pull and pay. Then stop at the car wash and hang it up and hit it with the pressure washer. It will be like new!

Let it dry completely befor you put it in.

If you don't want to mess with the JY, I have one in a 97 that I can sell to you. In decent shape too.

Make me an offer and I can box it up.
