Oil in Air Cleaner? EA82 Carb 1.8

Featured Replies

What causes oil to get up in my air cleaner and all over the snorkel and hoses below? I don't have a oil leak.Any thing else besides a bad PCV valve. Carb was loose so I snugged it up and from that point on it will not idle , or it will idle very high ...Can it be a auto choke problem?....Help please!!!!

Thanks a lot!!!

i dont know if this helps or not so, sorry if it doesnt. on my festiva i would have oil in the intake sometimes and it seemed to be coming from the breather tubes. it didnt seem to hurt anything and everyone i talked to back then said it was no big deal

Clean the PCV lines, replace the PCV filter inside the air-box and repalce the PCV valve with one from the dealer for good measure.

If your oil filler cap is loose there is a lose in vacuum and oil accumulates in the air cleaner housing.

It seems all pre 1994 subarus have loose oil filler caps. You can either back it off slightly from all the way tight or bend the two lips on the underside of the cap. I like the back it off a bit method. Hate to bend metal to much or to many times.

I would probably do what GD says to do also!
